Uh oh... I said the dreaded "F" word!!!!

So yep... I still shoot film and I may have the possibilty of shooting a wedding in May and wondered for those of you that still shoot film, what do you use?

I mostly use Kodak E100VS, but that is costly to develop and I need something that will give me negatives instead of slides.

So what do you guys use??

--- Gregg

I need to know as soon as possible so that I can buy film... Thanks in advance!!!
Chris Humphreys

Back when I WAS shooting film, I was always impressed with Fuji's line of film. Good color.

I went with TMAX 100 and Ilford's 400 for B&W. You should talk to Nathan though, cause he was shooting flim not too long ago.

Another vote for Fuji. Not just good color; good color SATURATION. biggrin.gif

I'm more wanting to know what types from the brand (i.e. Kodak TMax 100, etc... ). Sorry I didn't specify.

Color work:
Fuji NPS (160 ISO) rated at 100

Fuji NPH (400 ISO) rated at 320

Black and white work:
Kodak T-MAX 100, 400, 3200
Tri-X is nice too.

Also one other question... How many rolls would you shoot? I'm thinking most likely I will be with the couple the whole day from getting ready until the last people leave from the reception.

That should probably be worked out with you and the couple. They should be the ones paying for film and development, not you. I would suggest something like 30 rolls (of 36). That gives you just over 1,000 images. That would cost a little more than $300 maybe?

However, again Nathan would be a great resource, since I've never shot film at a wedding and don't know the actual numbers that film shooters usually shoot at weddings.....

I would say though the more you can get them to spend on film the better (as long as it doesn't cut into how much they pay you!) The more you can shoot the better offf you'll be and the better your pictures will come out.

Thanks Chris.... I'll definitely be talking to Nathan.

Nathan, you up for a chat sometime soon?

Gregg,
I still shoot some film but I am a Kodak user. I love print film b/c there is room for making mistakes. Slide film is way to risky for a wedding in my opinion. I love the Kodak 160VC for Color. I usually rate it at 125. For B/W films I use TMAX 100, 400. But I also really like the BW400CN.

My film expenses are already built into the Wedding photography fee. I find that most wedding clients don't really have a grasp on the expenses that occur nor how many rolls of film it takes to cover a wedding. They much rather have a flat fee and know what the photography is going to cost them.

If I am shooting a wedding all film I usually shoot between 10-15 rolls (of 36) I always take 2 cameras. One is for Color and the other is for B/W.
