Full Version: Another Business Card - A fun one! Promise!

Rob and Lauren
So we've been using pictures of ourselves on our business cards since the start. We've gotten great reactions from them. A+. But they were b&w and not very vibrant and we're really trying to push our business into the "fun and exciting" realm. Thus, new business cards.
front:

back:

i wanted colour, fun, and simplicity. the pictures that are on there now are just placeholders. we need some better shots of ourselves but the studio is down right now so we're waiting. but i'd love, love, love some thoughts on the whole idea!

The tricky spot is that we're planning for a business name change in the next couple of years (from 3point photography to rob&lauren photographers) and we've been trying to set that up in the minds of all of our clients. that's why the website doesn't really fit in with the huge rob&lauren title.

Enough babbling. Thoughts?

Thanks all!

Lauren

Nice! I really like the photos, very original. The only questionable thing is the graphic on the back....is that something you use on your website?logo? You may not want to tie yourself down with it if you don't use it anywhere else. My $0.02

I like it. I think the fun side definitely comes across. Not the same ol' same old.

If I had any suggestion at all it would be to give the text on the back a little depth with some small drop shadow or emboss..... yep, that's it.

Rob and Lauren
rachel: thanks! the graphic on the back is just something "pretty" nothing that i use anywhere else. which definitely means that i should make sure i really like it before going ahead with it, because, as you said, i don't want to get stuck with it!

ginger: thanks for the compliments! i'll take a look at how your suggestions look and see if i like it smile.gif

Refreshing!

Send me one when you finish!

VERY cool idea! I love it - great colors... great photos... great layout!! The only thing that jumped out to me is that it looks the photo of Rob is a little blown out in some places. Other than that - this is great stuff.

No offense to Ginger - but I whole heartedly disagree. Drop shadow's and emboss' rarely look good - in a layout like this the contrast in the text and the background is sufficient to make the text pop out.

Why Wait on a new web address? You can buy one from godaddy.com for $8 or so and then have them forward it to your current page. You're gonna change it anyway. Or maybe I'm crazy and there is more too it?

Oh, and I love the cards!

Very nice. If you are planning the name change, I'd have Rob&Lauren on the back too.

But make sure the print is big enough to be readable. You shrink these down to business card size and it's pretty small - if not for you, for a lot of people.
Rob and Lauren
eric: it's a deal!

cameron: definitely follow you with rob's face being blown out. we're gonna take better pictures. the lighting isn't even the same on those two, so when we do i'll make sure to keep it totally un-blown out smile.gif

lucky: just bought it two minutes ago smile.gif thanks!

jkantor: good point, i'm going to do a test print right now! and we're even thinking of putting the robandlaurenphotographers.com address on the cards instead. gotta jump in with both feet right?

thanks all!

What a great design idea! I wish I had thought of it! (if I were a couple smile.gif ) I have the same thoughts about the graphic on the back. You would need to use it through out all of your branding. I think it takes away from the bold, fun of the front of the card. I'd like to see how it would look if the bold, fun translated to the back of the card.

Love love the idea!
