Full Version: Which one should I enter?
OpenSourcePhoto > Show Your Stuff! > Engagement Pics
Kari
I belong to a local professional photographers organization. Each month there is a print competition. It is very informal. There is an assigned topic, and who ever wants to enter brings in a mounted 8X10. Then, everyone who is a member votes for their favorite one, and there is one winner. Simple. Well, I have such a hard time picking out what to enter, so I thought I'd aske here. Here are three that I am thinking of. The topic this month is engagements. Which one do you like best?
Jillian Kay

Number 1, no question!!! thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif But I'd like it better if the people were either dead center or off to one side more. That may not be possible on an 8x10.
Adam Squier
I agree. But your horizon is straight. Did you intend that? Just Kidding! ;-)
Kari
WOW! Thanks for the compliments everyone! So far it looks like #1....

Actually, I can't move it unless I crop in more... I was slightly off from a straight horizon, so I had to straighten it. This is straightened, with as much of the image as possible.

Thanks Gavin,
Sometimes I feel like all the water is going to pour out of the lake when I shoot a lake on a tilt!
Jules
I like the tilted one better -- I like the fact that the sun flare is less and we get more solid blacks. Still wish the people were off center though.

I just LOVE jumping shots. Actually, I think they're both nice.

Oh My! I was just kidding. It seems that (on other sites) people are always saying how the horizon is tilted and that it should be fixed. I was just joking around. But I do like the tilted one! wink.gif

Yes, we are quite blessed in Michigan, a beach like an ocean, with no salt! I love it. To bad I spend all summer shooting there instead of playing there!

Thanks again everyone...
The funny thing is I loved the other two also, and it was hard for me to choose. But, I guess it wasn't hard for you guys to choose! Thanks for the help! wub.gif

#1!! I miss Lake Michigan smile.gif Although right now I hear the beach is quite snow covered... Are you back in the positive temps yet? I'm from Grand Haven, so I've been getting the updates on the crazy weather... as I sit here in 70 degrees with sunshine. Love #1!
