Hey Guys,

I just switched to Macs about a month ago... (Enter "I told ya so" here)..

The only glitch I am experiencing is the images load super, SUPER slow into Showit. I've tried it on three different machines and the results are all the same. Any tips on how to improve the speed???

Thanks,
RW

Hmmmm.... That's interesting...what are some of the specs on your computer and what version of Showit Web are you using.

We have 1000+ Mac users and so we definitely want to know if there's an issue.

They are all three new 24" iMacs, 2 Gigs Ram, 2.16 GHz Intel, 250 Gig HD, etc...

I just downloaded the 2.5 beta and it seems to be a lot faster. Not sure why...

Thanks David!!!!

I think I just figured it out... The first 2 versions of Showit were for the original Macs. They were having to process thru Rosetta for the intel conversion. Now, I assume the 2.5 beta has new universal code that let's it run faster.

I dunno, just a hunch.

That's a good theory. I run SIW ona G4 Tower and an Intel MACBOOK PRO. I haven't notice any slow downs but I do most of my SIW on the G4. I will check it out tomorrow to see if it support your theory.

To make sure I understand when you see the problem. You say is after presing create slide show that SIW do the optimization for the images and creates the slide show?

Yes, that's exactly when I notice the lag time. I would say it took about 15 minutes to prep 40 images for a slideshow this afternoon. I've just been enduring it hoping for an update that will fix it. So far, the 2.5 Beta is working great!

The only other thing that could possibly be slowing it down is that I also started shooting RAW a while ago and didn't do many slideshows. I know the jpg file sizes are bigger from processed files, but not enough to slow it down as much as I'm seeing.

Thanks and let me know how your Macbook handles it.
