I'm planning to be on maternity leave in a couple of months and want something to keep my eyes busy while I'm busy NOT sleeping!
Anyway - I think I have some great business/marketing books picked up but I'm specifically wanting a photography book to get me inspired and excited about the fast approaching wedding and portrait season!
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

This isn't specific to weddings or portraits, but the most influential photographer for me has been the late Galen Rowell. His first book was Mountain Light, then later came Galen Rowell's Inner Game of Outdoor Photography and one other I can't remember.

He pioneered adventure photography, and his photography covered landscapes, portraits, and action. His books were really the first place I learned to see and use light, and boy, did he use it! Simply stunning, gorgeous images.

A side note, my wife found that books on tape/cd worked really well during her maternity leave for the times she couldn't read and didn't want to sleep. The library became one of her best friends.

Samantha,

I am reading a book that is sort of for photographer's, but also for artists. It is called "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. This book is about tapping into your creativity spiritually. There is also a journal you can keep as you read it. Might or might not interest you, but I am enjoying it:)
