Hey guys....before I purchase FTP software (for getting my Showit Web slideshows uploaded to my website, which is a Blu site) I wanted to make sure and see if any of you were using one that was free - thanks!

I've only had it a short time, but FileZilla
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ seems to work well, and is completely free.
P.S. I downloaded the beta, but it had problems uploading. I downloaded the main release, and it seems to work fine.

I've used FileZilla for years....it was the supported client when I was in undergrad, and I love it. Free, and easy. There are others out there, too. If you're on Windows, there is built-in FTP support (though I don't like it as much, it's there)
There's also SmartFTP, which is free, too.

Another vote for Filezilla. I have also used SmartFTP, which is also free and have been very pleased with both.

I was under the impression that SmartFTP is only free for personal use. Business use requires a license.

If you are using a Mac,
Cyberduck is great. It comes with a widget for drag-n-drop.
If on a PC, Core FTP Lite is free.
Good luck.

Internet Explorer or the cmd prompt - although not technically free, you have to buy the Windows software and a computer to use it - darn elitist Microsoft, why can't they make programs that don't need a computer.
Imagine your neighbour going out to get the paper and bluescreening when he bends down to get it . . . .
sometimes I should keep my thoughts inside my head I think.

I use filezilla and love that it lets you have multiple upload and download connections at once which really does speed things up.

I tried FileZilla when I was looking for FTPs and seems pretty nice. had no problems.
While is not free, I decided for Transmit 3. Really good and only $30.00. I use it mainly for Pictage and other plces that ask me for images.

You need to use firefox as your browser. If you are not using firefox, you really should. It is the best by far!!!!

Like others have said, Filezilla is completely free.
FileZilla can be installed in a special secure mode. When you do this, FileZilla does not remember any password, and the box to remember passwords is greyed out. If you don't share your PC yuo don't need this.
To disable secure mode, just reinstall FileZilla and choose not to enable secure mode during setup.
