I had a shoot to compile some pics for her comp card......Not really for modeling but for her dancing. She is asked to go out to L.A. for the second time to dance for agents/singers and such at the end of March.
She will need to market herself big-time and needed some unusual shots to set herself out from the rest.
Any suggestions on these would be greatly appreciated.....I can only learn with your help.

Very Nice Lisa!
What lens did you use for #4 and #5?
I think all of them are great - but especially like #3.

Brrrrrrrrrr! That looks ridiclously cold!
The background on 5 is fantastic, draws all the attention to her....as if standing in the snow in a bikini wasn't enough

Having trouble opening the images but the thumbnails look HAUTE for sure!!! I'll try again tomorrow --- thanks for sharing!
There it goes, must've been my connection... I imagine #5 with her hands on her head instead of at her shoulders and LOVE your DOF on these!!!

My only comment is that she's such a gorgeous girl, I really prefer the ones without the sunglasses! 5 and 6 are my favorites.

I agree about the sunglasses: comp cards/headshots and anything that obscures the face generally don't mix!
Also, things that don't really matter *as* much in regular portraiture are a bigger deal when it comes to head shots. Like her hair looking messy, and somewhat dried out.
I would drop the full body one (a_30) as it makes her look chunky and short legged, and I *know* that as a dancer, she is neither!!
The BG looks really cool in all of these (it's too early to avoid the pun!) and lighting/exposure/comp wise, these are good!!
My dear friend "in the biz" in NYC told me that the only thing that a head shot should do is to make the subject look "friendly and easy to work with..."

I love number 5. In my "past life" I was a model for Ford in NYC. Any time you can get great face/body mixed with an unusual background you have a winner. I agree too about the sunglasses. Although that is a nice shot, it would not work for a comp card!

Click to view attachmentThanks SOOOO very much to all the comments...all the great instructions on making these stronger will definately be put in my data bank!!!
Tony----The images you are talking about was taken with my 70-200mm 2.8 on my 20D body. #3 is with my 85mm 2.8 on my 5D body.
Colin----

Lucky Hen---I ALWAYS forget to get some poses with arms/hands on head and such! I really need to be more aware, esp. when senior season starts!
Jess---Thanks --- no glasses on the comp card.
Carrie---actually she is a little built----she is a hip hop dancer, not ballarina, they like to have a bit of a booty for...well, for 'things'?!?!? I will however steer her away from the full body and just do the 3/4 and head shots. Also... completely agree with obscuring her face for her comp card. Maybe I can send these as stock photos???? Luckily these will be handed out, majority, right to the agents. She is dancing for a week and in some VERY cool clubs in L.A. where the top floor of the club is VIP only....stars and agents....she has already been in contact with JLo and Justine Timberlake themselves and agents. The comp cards is to re-inforce her presence.
Chris and CL---Thanks for the reply and looking!!!
Lea---we have quite a bit more shots to choose from. I didn't want to bog down the board with everything. I thought too that since she will be in L.A. that the cold shots would be a bit different for the agents to look at??

Hey now... I'll all fer big booties!! I do "things" with my big booty as well... like... uhm... sit here in this chair, and chase my kids around the yard, try to squeeze it into skirts from the Juniors section... and roll around the grass at weddings... exciting stuff!!

Your pictures are amazing - love the colors! Love the composition. #5 looks like it may have a little too much room at the top of it. Maybe you could crop it in some and do a different angle. Just a thought. Let us know how she does.

Jodie----yep...she does look smack dab in the middle. The only thing is, I like the perception of the middle with the 'natural' vignette from the ice and the trees in this pathway. I have no room on the original on the lower legs due to how I was shooting. I could angel it...but again...kinda going for the eye to travel down the path behind her???? Don't know...cropping and angling would work too!! Thanks!
I will fill you all in on if you should be keeping an eye out for her in any music videos or back-up dancing with a singer????

She does LOVE them....however she is really into some wild ones I did....I will totally have to prob. reign her in on what to go into her comp card...she also has some friends who hip-hop professionally and have agents looking at these to give their opinion on what to use.

Nice effect on the new #2.
Soft layer action, and then history brush to bring it back into sharpness?

Sob... Sniff... It's been a while since I was 18... and a while since I had hair. I simply can't relate anymore. Darn kids with their hair and loud music!!!
