I had the most amazing wedding at WoodRanch Country Club in Simi Saturday.... my first all digital Gig!

We of course shot way to much (thats what happens when you get two girls, camera happy, with a beautiful, perky bride and a handsom groom!) We shot (Ok you can laugh out loud here...) 2100 frames.... I about died when I started to load some onto the laptop during dinner as I was thinking I was going to need a "clean" out a few flash cards.....

Last night (errr this morning) at about 3:30 am I had it edited down to about 1100, which I think about 1000 will go to pictage tomorrow.

We had a few problems with the lighting in the reception room.... it was the first time we used Gary Fongs new flash tupperware things.... and of course I didn't bother to read the instructions and kept the cap on, while we had a high ceiling, so our exposures were not good, but we caught it right away and took them off and taped on the old ones I used last year and everything worked fine!

The new digital Infrared camera came out soooo cool too! Although we were so pre occuiped with the other 3 cameras, we didn't get many images shot from it... I think maybe 15 frames or so....

When I figure out how to post images here I will post one of my fav images from the day!

also our home remodel is 90% done.... so I had a fun week with new wood floors being installed and new furtinure arriving, to even worry about my first all digital wedding..... next week SBA here I come... so watch out DJ and folks! If you see a crazy mad woman....digital wedding photographer, loose on the beach, I am sure its safe to assume its me!

Wow! Sounds like you had a great wedding day! Just wanted to let you know that I also recently started using the Lightsphere ("Tupperware thing") and it's really a great tool, especially for vertical compositions because it nearly eliminates any harsh shadows that you'd normally get with vertical flash shots. However, I've noticed that it's best for relatively close work, as it does not have the reach of a Sto-Fen Omni Bounce diffuser. Consequently, unless you compensate, your flash shots with the Lightsphere could be underexposed. Also, it really requires full-power from the flash, so it uses a lot of battery juice.
Looking forward to seeing your images.

Leanne! Yea!!!

That's so awesome and I'm excited to see the pics! Dane just got that new tupperware thingy too and he appeared to love it b/c I don't think it came off his camera the whole wedding!!! tongue.gif

3 cameras! 3:30am Whoa!

I can't wait to see the IR shots!!! Buissink shoots a lot of portraits with IR and they turn out incredible!

Where are you shooting in SB! Maybe some of us will come down and heckle you while you shoot!

Leanne-
That is awesome that you are so enthusiastic about what you are doing. The lightsphere works great for indoor and outdoor portraits. I spoke with Gary about the "proper" ways to use it and this is what he told me; when shooting outside and with only a few subjects have the cap on pointed directly at your subject, when shooting outside with larger groups you will probably need to remove the cap, when shooting inside have the cap off and pointed straight up, once again if it is a large group you may need more power so shoot directly at them with cap off. Hopefully that info helps.

I too bought one and photographed my first wedding with it on Saturday. I followed Gary's advice and it worked out pretty good. We will be looking fwd to seeing some of your pics.

Happy Shooting- Katie

Those are great. I really like the angle and the focal point of the ceremony shot. Congrats again on your first digital wedding.

DJ...I will be at fess parkers double tree! But please..... don't heckle me.... it will only make me nervous to know that such talented photographers may be watching my every move.... Watch my assistant and hit on her, since she is the one who keeps getting hit on lately at weddings and not me.... I must come across like I am married or something???? lol smile.gif
