My name is Allen. I'm a photoholic. Most, if not all, of you do this for a living. I do it for fun. I carry a different camera for a living...a Sony Betacam. I'm a tv sports photographer in Houston.
How did I find this forum? I'm an internet photo site junkie. Here's the trail that led me here. I frequent the Texas Photo Forum site. It was in that site where I learned about Simple Photo Life Videos
Being in the tv business, I enjoy watching the videos and learning new and different ways of doing things. In there I found links to Jessica Claire's work at Jessical Claire and Liana Lehman's site. It was a post in Liana's blog that led me here so here I am.
I post the majority of my photos on my Pbase site. Most of my photo taking has been limited to my kids as they take up most of my free time these days. That's fine as they are willing (most of the time) models.
I've looked around this site and am amazed at work you all are doing. It's all be very inspirational. I think the biggest hurdle I have to jump is my Photoshop work...mine leaves a lot to be desired. I usually just fart around until I come up with an image I like without any real rhyme or reason. I also think I need some actions to help as well.
My dslr experience started with a Digital Rebel. That opened a whole new world for me. Currently I have a 20D (that is in need of a sensor cleaning) and a few decent lenses. Along with the kit lens I have a 50mm 1.8 and an 85 1.8. I don't have a flash system and don't plan on getting one soon, but maybe down the road.
In a perfect world I wouldn't mind making a little money on the side, maybe doing child photography. I have no problem getting down on their level and getting dirty to get a shot.
Anyway...I've rambled enough. I hope that has been a decent introduction. If any of you have time to check out my work I am always open to any and all advice. Thanks for your time.
Allen
