I was playing around with some light painting at a recent engagement shoot and this is what I came up with. The couple is into this type of photography, but I wanted to get a second opinion. I like it, but just wanted to get some thoughts on it. Do you like it, or not? Stumped...

The photograph:

Thanks!

From what i can see it look sweet, However the image is kinda small so i cant really see what is going on. The lighting looks great. i would just like to see a bigger image.
amber holritz
ok, I think I like it... but really really need to see it larger!
Aaron
Bigger please! The guy does look like he might be dead!

Okay. I put a bigger version up. Does this help?
Aaron
I like it!

The print on the couch is a nice touch.

Thanks! I didn't know if that was going to be distracting.

I think it's beautiful. If the couple digs it, they must be cool. It's a great portrait too--very interesting use of light. Like the processing too. Sometimes you got to push the boundaries of what most folks would like--I like that you took a chance on something really different.

You pretty much made my life! Thanks for the awesome words!
Frank DiMeo
Excellent Josiah, keep at it thumbsup.gif

LOVE it.

creepy isn't exactly the word that comes to mind. Enigmatic is a better fit.

The couple fits the look, so I have no doubt that it will blow them away.

quite inspiring, josiah.

Nicely done I would say! Great use of painting with light! I dont think the print distracts at all.
John + Lovina Arcara
Cool stuff man!!!
I'm gonna copy

I definitely don't see creepy in the image. I love it smile.gif

LOVELOVELOVE it (colors, pose, faces & print) but what's with the streak of light?
Josiah Kennedy
Frank-- Thanks!

Meegan-- Thanks! I'm glad you like the look I was going for. I guess I thought that the fact that his eyes were closed made seem like he was dead, but now it looks more like sleeping.

Mike-- Thanks!

John-- Thanks! When you do copy, please let me see what you come up with! I would love to see your take on this technique!

Shelby-- Thanks!

Thanks! The streak is from my flashlight. I didn't bother me, but now that you pointed it out, it does. I can't stop looking at it. I could clone it out. What do you think?
Song4themoon
I really like it a lot but I cant figure out what that white glowy part above their back/back of the couch is??
Frank DiMeo
My eye does fight to stay off of it and it does give the technique away a little so I would probably get rid of it.
Lucky Red Hen
Yes, I'd say clone out the streak of light... only because it detracts from the beauty of everything else. Josiah, I'd hang it in my office (after the streak disappears LOL)!

YESYESYES!!! Oooh... de-freakin-licious!!!

Another thing... you are so loved on this forum that I have a proposition for ya. How about place your logo in the upper part of that picture somehow and sell the print for cheap (since the logo is in place) to us OSPers - I'm thinking an 11x14 size (or whatever your crop is).

??? I'm serious.

I DIG this shot and I have been thinking of doing some light painting in an e-session coming up. I have some other ideas that also have to do with a couch, we'll see. I'll post 'em after the session. Anyway, nice work!

WOW LOVE IT!
The mood that this image gives me is mystical and haunting.
I love the feel that you gave it!

Definately a socks knocker offer.
It is exqisite!!! I mean it. What a gorgeous mood and feel.
You should blow that sucker up to 300x400 put your logo on it and hang it on the front of your house. That would be all the advertising youd ever need. You would be perpetually slammed.

You nailed that my friend!!
mark eric
You are going to be the most popular Kennedy ever. Great job
Jennifer Grigg
Alt-f would be proud. I bought my sticky-back black foam card yesterday. I wonder how many are trying this? Brody did it at PUG. Anyone else? Post 'em up!
Nettie
That looks awesome without the streak of light!! I love it!
NH Jeff
This images is really great . Very gothic. The "dead" look is what I liked actually. Getting rid of the light steak was a good retouch. While interesting, it did draw the eye.

One small suggestion would be to maybe darken his face just slightly. It seems a little too bright and draws the eye a bit. darkening it would match her face a little more and make them of more "equal value" in the image.

Great work overall!!! I really love it.

Yes! I'd love to hang it in my office (with your logo prominent so nobody assumes that I took the pic). It'd probably prompt someone to try it with me, having a cool example like that!

I actually liked the mystery flash...but it works well without it too. smile.gif
