I needed to pay my gas bill before the 31st (I guess I hadn't paid it since December

- I'm really bad at stuff like that) or they were gonna cut it off (and then I'd freeze to death

) so I typed up the address on google and checkout how cool their map are!
Cool Google Maps!

Let's see... as for Google Maps... you can do some other cool stuff with it.
Looking for a Pizza in SB?A Camera Store?I love this feature when travelling, example was my last event in SB, I'd printed the map of the camera stores before I headed down there :-)
Oh, and as for gas prices, at San Francisco I see $5.06/gal, but of course they're exceedingly unreasonable. My local airport is currently just $3.15/gal. I burn about 8 gallons an hour, though I usually cruise at 115 mph hehe :-)

it's not typical for me but I did just get pulled over for going that fast! YIKES!

Hehe, yeah, luckily when I'm going that fast I have the pilots license to back it up! And usually their radar guns can't reach high enough to hit my airplane :-)

Hey is there a fee to park your plane????
DDPhoto
March 31 2005, 03:51 PM
During the day, no, airplane parking is free most everywhere. The only places that would charge would be the very busy or international airports, etc.
Overnight fees vary, but are usually between $4-6 a night.
Santa Barbara is one of the more expensive airports, Signature Flight Support charges a $22 "ramp fee" unless you buy 7 gallons of gas (Currently $3.58/gal). The overnight fee is $10 paid directly to the city. The flight and The Elephant Bar restaurant is worth it though *smile*

That is sooo cool. Tell me this...do you or have you used your plane for destination weddings? And can you also use your plane for international flights?
I just think it's awesome that you can fly....being that I'm from Redneckville. The airport here is surrounded by farmland and a bunch of cows. All they need to do to the airport is add a laundry mat, pool tables, and a nail shop and we'd be set for life!

(I'm just kidding guys....it's not THAT bad out here....but moving here from Honolulu a while back was a total culture shock)

Yes, I've used the plane as my transportation to weddings and events :-) I generally fly out earlier for the event so as to leave time for variables like weather and fog, delays, etc. For example when I recently photographed an event in Santa Barbara I planned on flying down the morning of the shoot but by noon when the fog down there still hadn't cleared I hopped in the car and had to drive down.
International flights... technically yes, I can fly anywhere in the world, but since the planes I'm flying only go 110-120 mph it would take a LONG time to get anywhere international ;-) I have been to Mexico, and the furthest I've gone was Chicago and Wisconsin... yeah, a 24 hour flight ;-)
Now, when I start shooting DJ class weddings I'll pick up a small jet, that'll help things a lot ;-)

that is so freaking cool!!!!
isn't the cheapest jet like a couple million dollars, though??
anyways, speaking of Google Maps, next time you type in an address, click on "Satellite." It is sooooooo cool!

I realize this is kind of an old post- but I had to chime in.
I feel awful for complaining when gas hit $2.18 in Savannah. (Of course we are directly on the coast.) It's dropped back down to $1.94 for right now- but this didn't happen until oil prices had been down for weeks!
Also- on Google Maps- AWESOME! I will never use Mapquest again. Especially after Mapquest has gotten me lost numerous times. No joke- my last shoot using Maquest directions I turned around EIGHT times! On one little bitty strip on road!!
Google is taking over...

Google Maps Does Satelite Too.
It's in the top right hand corner.
Keep in mind everyone that google maps is still BETA. And that the Satelite maps are about 2 years old. I'm sure they will update the maps when the product goes out of BETA. I hope.
You can see more cool BETA Google stuff at labs.google.com

Yeah, my fiancee always makes sure I have a map in the car with me. I always have to scout out locations before I shoot because I will always get lost if I don't.
I don't even know why I stick with Mapquest. Fingers, why do you go there? Old habits are so hard to break.
