Full Version: I got the mac book pro ... now I need a bag

I love my new mac book.
I'm sitting here on the couch instead of at my desk (yeah!).
It's working well. I finally have my email & contacts & my calendar going between the mobile laptop & the workhorse PC pretty seamlessly.

But I'm discovering that there aren't many bags that fit this Mac. I think I found a Crumpler that I like, but I want to know if there are any others that people like out there.

I don't need it to carry my camera equipment. I don't want a backpack. I think I'd like a feminine tote, but I couldn't find any that would fit. I saw some cute ones, but not big enough for the 17".

Any suggestions???

It's light, it's thin, very durable, and nice 'n soft inside for your baby! I just got one the other day for my 15", they're really nice. They also have perfect space for your charger and extension cord, and a slot for business cards and your apple remote. Enjoy!

I really like the bag she got me..it's the Duma laptop bag. It is not girly girly, but it's really cool. And totally durable. I am going to take it on a trip next week.

I hope this helps you out!

Wow. laughing.gif Bet Apple's engineers didn't envision that when they designed the MBP!

thanks ! I'm gonna consider that Duma!

Why oh why aren't there STORES that carry the laptop Crumplers?! sad.gif
I want to see & touch one!

I got a $30 laptop tote bag at Target that fits the MBP, so that will tide me over while I search for the permanent home for Joey (my son named the MBP Joey)

Did you try checking out what's at the mac store? BTW, congrats on your new laptop, I'm saving up for one.

I LOVE my laptop bag from Target. It's been through thick and thin and I carry so much crap in there, yet it looks very professional in a sense. I can't believe it's held up for 3+ years now for only $30. But it only holds my 15"

I use one from Brenthaven. It's made extremely well, holds lots of stuff, comes with an inner padded case (removable) for the PB and it looks professions.

I have also been considering a wheeled case for my trips because the PB on my shoulder gets pretty heavy! Many of the wheeled laptop cases are also designed for overnight business travel so they have room for a chenge of clothes OR a few albums and other stuff for meeting clients.

The one I like so far is:

But it doesn't fit a 17" PB. sad.gif

Carefull sitting on the couch with it. Laura burnt her leg this week and I've burnt myself with mine too. Get one of those USB fan pads or put something between you and the laptop.

I had my Apple rep on the phone last year and was asking him when they are going to do something about the heat these things put out. I'm still amazed at his reply.. "That's why we call them portables and not LAP-tops"

+1!! The ibooks/macbooks aren't too bad. But the PB/MBPro getting really really hot on the skin! The little lap fan desk thingy from Target was a great investment.

This is a great lap stand. I've used one for a long time.

I followed Jessica Claire's advice on SPM and bought one of these— http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/catalog.htm— You get to choose your colors. Make sure to get the large for the 17".

^^^ I was wondering when someone would bring up Timbuk2. I've got one for my 17" and I know DJ has (or HAD) one. These are great bags that are thoughtfully designed.

The Acme bags are cool too....for girls. happy.gif

Love, love, love my crumpler bag. I have the skivvy and it's just enough for my baby, cords and cards... to give to the people who look over your shoulder at the coffee house while you're working. wink.gif I like to go as light as possible.

Try it, you'll like it...
Barefoot-Memories
