Chris and I are a few months away from our first anniversary. It's been an amazing year of much growth.
We have our vows (that we wrote) printed out in a nice graphic way and framed above our fire place among many large framed pictures. I saw them today and thought I'd share them with you and see what yours were.
" Will you first glorify God in your marriage? That it might be a testimony to his grace and mercy in your lives?
Will you love and cherish each other placing them as your first priority? Making your marriage and love for each other above all others?
Will you serve each other with a humble spirit? That you might extend the humble spirit that Christ portrayed to us.
Will you make honesty a daily goal? To constantly come to each other with openness?
Will you commit your devotion to each other through perilous and joyous times? Whether you are safe or in harm.
Will you entrust to each other your body; in that your mind and your heart? Whether you are ill or well, will you seek their security and protection?
Will you support each other's talents and gifts and what makes them come alive? Will you encourage them to pursue and achieve all that God has for them?
Will you remember the legacy you have received from your family? Will you pass this legacy on to your children and remind them of the heritage they have been gifted?"
(besides the main points of vows, we wanted to also include our talents and the aspect of our business. As well as the legacy that we both have in our families. It's been amazing to see strong marriages through our families to support us. We want to continue that for our children.)
These were all questions that we answered in our wedding service. Chris and I wrote these one night over a plate of ribs (my guilty pleasure). As the year has been busy and distracted us, it is good to go back and reflect on these promises that I made to Chris.
Chris, thank you for being an amazing husband and being my partner on this amazing journey that we are on.
I love you, babe.

Aww, that's so sweet, Katie!
My hubby & I just got married this past July on the beach in Coccoa Beach, FL. We wrote our own vows too... very very very romantic... I will have to post them on here later..
Great post topic, by the way:)

When you posted this I thought, "Oh mine were good" and then I realized they were actually pretty simple!! I think I just wanted to make sure the laugh and learn part was in there. Oh well - the marriage is still damn good!!
GROOM: I, Alex, take you, Sherry, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, to love and to trust, to laugh and to learn with, through the good times and bad, til the end of my days.
BRIDE: I, Sherry, take you Alex, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, to love and to trust, to laugh and to learn with, through the good times and bad, til the end of my days.

Oooh, good topic. We're writing ours sometime this month (that's the goal anyway!), so some good ideas.

I think I had something in there about never saying "you look fat in those pants"!
