Hi everyone! Just thought I would post a quick note to introduce myself. I'm Heather Mason from Macon, Georgia. I'm one half of khMason Photography...my husband Kenneth being the other half! We're fairly new to the business, but have been around photography for a long time. My parents have had a wedding photography business for years, and I spent alot of time working with them and learning - I did my fair share of schleping bags! Then a friend wanted my parents to photograph their wedding, my parents were already booked, and they talked Kenneth and I into doing their photography. That one wedding was enough for me - I was hooked and realized that I really liked being the lead photographer. So we started our own business last year and now we're working on building up bookings and getting our name out there. I can already see that this forum will be invaluable in helping me figure out how to market ourselves best.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. Maybe I'll even get a chance to meet some of the other Georgian's at some point!

Hey Katie! Thanks for the welcome! I'm not sure what a PUG meeting is, but we're game for pretty much anything. Just tell me when and where and we'll be there!

PUG = Pictage User Group. So if you are with Pictage or not, you can still hang out. I think it's the first Wednesday of every month in ATL, but it varies. PM if you want more info.

I gotcha! I would love to do that if it is in the evening. Unfortunately I still work a day job right now, so I have to divvy up my days off carefully so I have enough to take care of my out of town weddings. One day I might actually be able to take a vacation again! I'm hoping I'll be going fulltime next year! Come ooonnnn bookings!

Yep - the double wedding made the Weddings Unveiled mag...we were all really excited about it. I had to go out and buy about 10 copies LOL The people in Barnes and Noble were very confused! hahaha

We were just saying that it is time for a weekend in Savannah! My brother is getting married in March, and I think we are definitely going to need a vacation after it's over! A frosty concoction will be just what the Doc ordered!

I hate I missed out on the Savannah photo shoot - joined OSP a bit too late! However, I have been mulling over the idea of getting a group together with a couple of models and doing a waterfall trash the dress shoot...maybe an idea for the summer?? There's a cool waterfall off a lake not too far from here that I've been dying to do that at!

Unveiled is officially my new favorite bridal mag! Very cool stuff. And the waterfall thing sounds awesome-- and yeah summer far outshines doing that one in February when we are all gonna be freezin' in the cold. Please pray for some unseasonable warm weather next weekend!!!!

The double wedding was really amazing! They were sisters who were 4 years apart in age. They had over 40 people in the bridal party, and that was undoubtedly the most tiring day I've ever spent photography-wise. We actually shot that wedding with my family for their photography business www.jkdallasphotography.com and they were nice enough to let us use our photos from that wedding for our site. Their stuff from that wedding just got published in Weddings Unveiled (a southern bridal mag),
which is what Diana was talking about.

Greek Pizza at Barley's? And I thought I knew all the good food joints around here. How about you introduce us to that, and we'll introduce you to Puleo's, on the slim chance that you haven't already been there that is. They have great personal pizzas, and the best (and most interesting) chicken pot pie ever.
