I am a very...very unorganized person, plus Im a HUGE procrastinator. Like horrible, its just ME and I dont think I can fix that part, but I think I can get a little organized. My UNorganization feeds into my procastination, becasue I also have a bad memory so I forget to do things, even important things (like payign the billz!). So please, everyone, share your ways. I needs something thats going to be IN MY FACE telling me to do something. I'm not good at going into things, checking calanders, etc., everyday, I'll remember to do that liiike once a week. I tried making a personal calander as a desktop, so I have to look at it all the time, its helped a little but I need something more as I'm growing. Even with filiing, such as contracts, money, anything business related. I have a falling apart (but pretty!) desk from Target, I need a new one, but thats not in the budget right now. So tell me what programs or tricks you use for the computer, and also things you do around the office. I would seriously love it! 51.gif wub.gif

ACT software. It manages clients, vendors, dates, phone logs, notes, reminders, everything you need. Just leave it open all the time. When you on the phone type in the info after the conversation. It takes a while to set up all the reminders. But once you do it's great. You can put reminders on there for you bills, invoices, etc. But don't procrastinate or your reminders will never remind you. Good luck.

Oh my goodness! I thought I was the only one. I try all kinds of different way to be a little bit more organized but I always lose track of things or my train of thoughts of what I am suppose to do. My husband is always on my back about that. I am going to check out that program too.

Sounds exactly like me, I really try...really. But my homemade calanders and random notes just doesnt cut it for such people like us.

Hey guys! I have the beginnings of a blog about office management at www.photographersoffice.net, so check it out and sign up to be notified via email when I put up new information!

If you're using PC, Outlook and Quickbooks will do it for you, and if you're using Mac, Mail, iCal, Addressbook, and Quickbooks will do it for you! With these applications, you can manage your calendar, your finances, and Quickbooks will sync your client info with Outlook or your Addressbook, which can then syn to a PDA/phone!

Ouh, handy! Ill have to look at it tomorrow, as I have been procrastinating about going to sleep for the past hour. I havent totally looked into Quickbooks, I've heard its difficult to get started, but also popular so it has to be of some good use!

Just an fyi...If you purchase quickbooks I'd strongly recommend that you talking to someone who knows a little about setting it up for a photography business so you can easily track the info you have in there. It will save you a lot of headache later. I started mine wrong and am having to redo everything and set it up all over again. If you need help I can give you a few pointers.

OK I'm at the other end - VERY detail oriented.

I keep track of everything in triplicate Excel, iCal/addressbook, and Quickbooks - Yes quickbooks can capture all the required info.

Every morning I check my iCal to see what is up for the day. It syncs with my Blackberry so I always have a current schedule.
I go overboard capturing every detail. Probably spend too much time with it.

Eric

PS: I'm about to update the Quickbooks thread I started a few weeks ago.
