First of all I want to congratulate Damion Hamilton and Julie Hamilton again on their new addition! I had the pleasure of shooting the birth of their daughter a few days ago, and let me tell you, it was an amazing experience. I am so flattered that they chose me to photograph the birth of their daughter. It's always flattering when another photographer asks me to shoot them or their children, it also puts a lot of pressure on me to make sure I do a good job. I hope that I captured this day the way they hoped for.

I love the whole thing, but the shot of the mom and dad just after the birth is absolutely perfect. Oh, and is that older girl the new baby's sister? How adorable!

I would love to do sessions like this. How much do you charge a regular client? Are you on call for an expected delivery time? How long do you stay? Wow, I'm so inspired! Love it.

To answer your questions, I don't really know what I would charge. I didn't charge them for this for two reasons, one because I've wanted to shoot a birth ever since I began doing children's photography and two because they are going to shoot mine (I'm due in June). I was pretty much on call for a couple days but it didn't bother me because I cleared my calendar for the week and I live close to the hospital. I stayed probably a total of 5 or 6 hours, but I'd think it would be a personal preference how long you'd stay before and after the actual birth.

Beautiful, Erin! But no fair making me cry. I used that song when I made slideshows of my daughter's first year for family Christmas gifts--it's a tearjerker for sure.
