Full Version: Logo & Business Card Samples.

Okay, so since there are a lot of other people posting logos and business cards on here I figured I'd throw ours up as well. As you're viewing here are a few interesting notes:

1) The design is intentionally feminine. We do realize that men would be turned off by colors, flowing lines, etc. We've also only ever had a handful of guys book weddings and/or children's sessions so we're okay with that.

2) The colors brown and pink are contemporary. They'll be out of style in a year or so, and we're comfortable changing them to update with current trends. Keeping up with current trends is part of our strategy.

3) Hopefully this helps us appear a little more high-end. The website will actually have a metallic looking logo (as shown) that hopefully is reminiscent of platinum. At least that was my thought. Compare this to the solid white on the business card. Which do you prefer, and why?

4) The logo and style is not necessarily my taste. If I were choosing something to represent me personally, it would be far different. However, I recently did some research for an article on how clients use their preferred brands to define themselves. Really, this logo belongs to my clients who identify with it, and ultimately use our finished product to express their sense of style and social status. If they created a logo for themselves, this is how I think it would look. Does that make any sense? It's a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo. Here is a simpler way to put it, you buy DIESEL jeans to make a statement. Hopefully once our branding and awareness initiates are complete, clients will hire us not only for the pictures, but also to make a statement.

What are your thoughts? Given our target audience, are we on the mark, far off, is it disgusting, etc? Snide remarks, critique, opinion, we want to hear it all.

colors are nice - pretty decent layout. 3 suggestions for you....

1. the floral piece on the front of the card looks too up front and the text/logo gets lost in it. so... maybe figure out a way to solve that problem...

2. there seems to be a lot of info on the back in the lower corner, seems pretty crammed up to me, maybe try minimizing the amount of text there...?

3. not digging on the "not so straight and clean" border edge on the back, i would clean that up a bit.

i really like the phrase "professional artist, professional photographer."

it seems like with the direction you're going, the people who will like the colors and flowing lines will want to hire you as thier photo artiste.

I'm SOOO glad to hear you say that, because it is a BIG part of our positioning and I'm very glad that it shows through. We're trying to portray ourselves not as wedding photographers, but as artists that you commission to do your wedding - if that makes any sense at all.

We've got a fairly elaborate strategy planned out to execute on, I'll write it up and post it on here for anyone that is interested.

I think I agree with everything already stated.

I'm very much into the brown background with the pink design. It's just a bit distracting against the text. Perhaps offsetting it to one side - was that mentioned? Otherwise, very strong.

The back is definitely a bit wordy/info-y. I'm assuming the pink is a bleed, but it does seem a bit thick and confining, especially when you take all the info into consideration. I like the copy so I can imagine it would be tough to clean up.

Hope any of that helps. Excellent work thus far!

most of the logos/b-cards that people post on here are shite, but that backside with the brown backdrop is killer! Do not touch it at all. The front with the info needs a little love, but it's almost there.

Who are you going to have print them?

The pink is a bleed, and a good portion of it will be trimmed off. That would probably make it not feel as trapped. I guess I should have provided a sample as printed rather than just my set up files.

Seems like you're not the only person who feels this way, so maybe I should clean that up a bit. I think the fact that some of it is in alignment while the rest of the text is strewn about makes it a little messy. The serif fonts also aren't as easy to read as a sans serif font would be - but I wanted it to all match the logo.

I was going to do a short run (250 cards) at OvernightPrints.com. We're out of cards at the moment. After that I'll probably find another vendor, pick a better paper and get serious with a large run. Any recommendations?

DITTO! The front looks PERFECTO!

Overnightprints is fine for a quick run, but I feel that your design (soft, earthy, etc.) calls for a matte stock (overnightsprints only does glossy). Maybe search for a fibery matte stock when you can.

I use overnightprints at least once a month for client projects and have yet to find a better card. A design I uploaded tuesday morning shipped wednesday afternoon and was delivered friday!

If you get the satin coat on both sides it has a nice, matte feel.
(they should pay me for this stuff!)

I have a question..... This is the second card that I've noticed on the site that had really pretty scrolly designs. Where are you guys getting those? Did you do your logos yourself? I have a new division of photography that I"m starting called lovestrings portraiture and I need an neat logo. (Only stipulation is that I want the l to be the christian fish symbol so its pointy at the top....doesn't have to be "in your face" but i want it to resemble that) Any ideas on how to make the logo really stand out?
Alicia Williams
Honestly, I Love the back of the card, the front of the card is to busy.

keep it simple.

Mine has my logo, my name, website and phone. Nothing on the back, except one of my logo colors.

You want people to view your work before they email you for a price quote.

It's definitely feminine, but it seems like that was your goal.
I REALLY like it. It looks very professional and stylish and I think it makes a statement about the types of brides you want to attract. I think you've done a good job, I wouldn't change anything.

4by6.com has a nice card stock finish called satin. order a sample kit. i think that would go great with your design.
