From the "brill" British vernacular, to Mitchell's prose, this book totally sucked me in, I felt like I was a teenager again, traipsing around the woods with the 13-year old narrator.
Mitchell writes beautifully, and the 13 chapters of this book could almost stand on their own as short stories. But they interlock perfectly.
Very moving, very poignant. Highly recommended
A favorite quote from the book (which is quoted from Susan Sontag's "On Photography"):
"By slicing out this moment and freezing it ... all photographs testify to time's relentless melt."
