I am also in the beginning stages of Quickbooks...i have been using it for only about a month, but did get set up with it with a bookkeeper and am using it for our day-to-day business tracking now. Alex, if you don't have any accounting knowledge, I would recommend having a bookkeeping come in with you and get you set up with the Chart of Accounts, etc. She also could probably help to explain some of the fundamental accounting things you must understand in order to use the program. Thankfully, I have worked in book keeping so I have a general knowledge of how accounting works- Without that though, I think you really want someone to at least get you set up intially, and then check back with you. There are so many things that us normal folks wouldn't normally know, but that a bookkeeper would. Just my 2 cents
As far as tutorials, etc, the have tutorial videos actually on the Quickbooks program- I am not in front of it at the moment, but somewhere under the help section there are guided videos, that walk through the basic questions you had (managing jobs, your accounts, etc). They actually have YOU do the actions as you go through the process. This would probably be a really helpful place to start to just get a feel for the system. It helped me a lot.
In addition, there's also a forum dedicated to Quickbooks questions that could be a good place to go. the address is www.quickbooksgroup.com I haven't spent tons of time on here, but its pretty extensive, so I'm sure you could find some good help here!
Hope this helps a little
