My Fong thingie is broke. I lost the dang plastic piece for the smaller flash. And I cant get teh freaking thing to stay on my bigger flash. I duct taped it. Thought I could make it look right.. (((Like it looks right normally)))
Anyhow,
Any sugestions?

You could always hold onto it for a little while and then sell it as "vintage" or "retro" on eBay and make a killing!

Mine wasn't broken and I had trouble with my clumsy self keeping it on. I feared that it would drop to the floor during the ceromony. I put a hole in it on the bottom and put a string, nice one, not yarn, or thread, on it. But on my other ones I ordered, I realized that I could put velcro on the sucker. Now I have to pull it off my flash. I don't know if anyone else goes to this extreme, but I found it works great!

However I don’t make a habit of tossing out good equipment until it’s absolutely necessary.

Then order a new soft fong dong (I recommend the cloud version over the clear one)...they are much less clumsy and not nearly as obnoxious looking as the original LS...

Did anyone ever have someone call the fong dong a cup holder. One guy actually tried to place his beer in it. Now just think of it spilling on my flash camera, clothes. I would have died!!

Nope Ive never been on there before that I can remember..
I catch so much crap about the Fong thingie at weddings I dont even use it for them anymore. However I do like it for portraits. When I can explian its use.
But the entire beer holder thing is freaking funny. Even though it would suck to have something spill on the flash, camera etc.
And no I wouldnt have died. Whoever did it would have!! LOL. Thats why we have insurance. Humm I'll have to check my policy and see if it covers killing idiots. : )

Well, now when someone ask what it is on the camera, I just laugh and say cupholders for my beer. It makes them laugh and stops the questions. I love it for weddings, although it is still a pain to handle since my camera, the flash is bulky already, and I usually shoot with two cameras. So two cameras two fong dongs, it is crazy. Since so many of the photographers are using it around here, people are getting used to seeing it.

I had a groomsman (a new dad) tell me the fong dong looked like a breast pump.... that was embarassing. I think I will use the beer holder idea next time someone asks

Depending on where you are you might say, Wine glass holder. More elegant weddings might call for that, but around here Beer works just fine!!

I don't know why they say i had images on that last comment. I didn't post any images and can't see what they were. So if there are anything derogatory I didn't post it.

I should post some pics of my new Frankenstein creation. Laura uses the lightsphere clear and we picked up one of the new chrome thingymajigs. Well it doesn't work too well with the clear but we would have known that if I read about it 1st.

She had an older hard plastic cloud sphere so I hacked the lip off the edge of it and now I use the chrome thingy on that.. works pretty well. Especially since she retired the hard plastic one because of a quiet church moment when it decided to fall off and make a racket.

I use the old hard one. I gaff tape it to the flash head every time. Gaff tape rocks. Long live the hard fong dong....

Even though the trees will still be bare at the end of March...I'm pretty stoked that daylight savings now starts several weeks ahead of the usual weekend! More time for good light on those Friday evening weddings.
