Full Version: Pretty Random Question
OpenSourcePhoto > Who We Are :-) > All about You :-)

This may seem like a silly/DUH question, but I really am curious.

Those of you who use the word "Studio" in your business name- do you actually have a studio/do studio photography? Or did you just use it because it sounds cool?

Be honest now wink.gif

I'm curious also smile.gif Studio instantly makes your name sound cool.

I think majority probably don't have a studio (as in studio with strobes where you photograph) but of course I could totally be wrong. Most photographers that I know of use the term "studio" to imply a meeting place, a little office space, a rented space perhaps that is decked out with their photographs on the wall, couches, their post processing equipment, etc. It's their "studio" and much more personable than an "office". Websters dictionary: Studio: A working area for an artist, photographer, etc.

because it's cool.

If I had enough money, I'd kick the renter out of my carriage house and *then* I'd have an actual studio but for now I just have all my equipment in my livingroom when I do a studio shoot.

Good to hear this. I actually have an office, more than a studio. But studio really sounded better since I am a photographer. My office is very small and my lights would have taken up all the room. It would have worked but I didn't want the clutter, so I let another photographer who needed lights and had an actual very cool studio to use mine, in exchange, since I rarely use the studio I use hers when it calls for that. Long answer for a short Yes, its cool!

I guess I should start a new thread about this but I have a question....
Knowledge Cat, Love Cat?? Who decided this? I am a knowledge cat and don't know why I am that? If you know please let me know.
And why does it say Germany by my name?? Confused!! wacko.gif

That's based on the number of posts you have made.

I have a studio...but it's always just been "Bentley Gray Photography." Now that I think about it maybe that's too generic, but to me "studio" could mean anything...hair studio, recording studio etc. Maybe something like "Bentley Gray Portrait Design" would be neat.
Oh well...too late now.

After 16 years...for me it's too late. If I were to start over I might try to choose something that sounded a little more artistic, but it would definitely have my name in it. I like how you changed yours to include your name. It's more personal that way I think.

I do it for the name sake. But I use to have a studio, but for now its in my house. We are looking to build one in the next year. I actually added an "s" on the end to make it Studios, hahaha. oH and that makes it extra cool if ya didn't know.

Heck we're Picture Infinity "Studios" because I envision us growing and branching out. I built the goal right into the name. I want us to be big - bigger than me & Sarah in a living room. So for us, the name isn't reality or fiction - it's aspiration.
