Full Version: Meeting clients at home . . .

I'm hoping somebody can help me with this question . . . and perhaps it differs from state to state, but . . .

I will be moving into a new apartment and I would like to meet with clients in my home (to show slideshows, album samples, equipment, etc.). I would probably also meet clients at their homes and at coffe shops, etc., but it would be nice to be able to offer a comfortable setting to show my work. Ideally I would like to trick out my living room and make it look very nice for client meetings . . . and I would probably have a nice TV in there for slideshow viewing, etc. But, am I still able to deduct that space even though it's actually the living room of my home? It's a townhome floor plan so there would be two floors . . .

My living space (i.e., bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.) would be upstairs and my study, living room, kitchen, etc. would all be downstairs. Can I deduct the entire downstairs space?

Hmmm . . . wacko.gif

Has anybody out there gone through this scenario???

Thanks in advance for your input!

It would probably depend on whether you're using it as a living room or not. I'd talk to a tax person to make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's for whatever you decide there.
