Actually, I'm not all that interested in the subject of photography. Once the picture is in the box, I'm not all that interested in what happens next. Hunters, after all, aren't cooks.

-Henri Cartier-Bresson

NICE QUOTE (and from a true master of the art)!

thanks DJ

DJ, interesting quote. From talking to you before, I think I might see where you are going with this concept, but I'd be curious to see how you interpret the quote for application to your business.

Now if only I knew how to cook....

DJ, still curious as to how you interpret this quote for use in your business practises...

But what good is the catch, if it's not savored properly? After hunting, I prefer to cook the catch with lots of spices. I do care what happens after it's in the box. That's why I do a lot of post processing.
Chris Humphreys

If you like it so much you wanna do my post processing?

I prefer just the hunt personally. smile.gif

Yea...smile.gif everyone's different and one way isn't better than the other...Actually, I really enjoy color correcting, photoshoping, etc.. and I think it is vital in this new time of photography to know how to handle your files. I've just chosen to spend my time in other areas that I enjoy more and can see helping my business more.

It's tough to give up control, especially when you enjoy doing what you're giving up, so for me that quote has a much different meaning than how Bresson said it. For him, I assume, that he's more interested in life, and documenting it. Once the moment has happened (and been captured by his masterful eye) he's on to see/capture something else.

Bumatay - you're right that the hunt can be ruined if not prepared properly and that's why I let someone who's better than I am do the preparing. smile.gif

Another one of my favorite quotes - "Figure out what you're good at and don't do anything else."

....I have a tendancy to take it to the extreme though... smile.gif

It's probably helpful to remember that Cartier-Bresson gave up photography all together years before his death in exchange for taking on the art of "drawing". In fact, he viewed photography as nothing more than expedited drawing.

I love how much he knew what he was about and never pretended to be something else. I'm sure he bothered folks for not being what others wanted him to be, but can you imagine how much he would have underperformed if he had tried to do stuff that he wasn't made for? What a gift he was to us.

Well...All I can say is that I dont' trust a skinny cook!
