On graphi studios order form there is a check box to stamp/brand your logo on the album, has anyone done this or have any idea where it goes on the album ie front cover , back inside front etc. What is the general opinion if having ones logo on an album, I have never had the nerve to do it, those who have , have you had any adverse reaction.
many thanks for any help in this, still learning through this amazing forum
cheers
steve

I don't use Graphi, but we do have our studio name stamped on the inside front cover of all of our albums. We have two lines imprinted with Squier Photography/Dublin, Ohio on it. I would have our logo included, but am too cheap to pay to have a new die made. When we first had them make the die, we didn't have a logo yet.

thanks Lynn,
I have only used graphi and I am thinking they would put the logo on the front cover and am not sure that that would go down too well.

Thanks, it really is Adam's style, not mine. I am mainly the business end of things with a little bit of wedding work mixed in.

alisha and i were just having this discussion yesterday actually, so it's funny to see this as a topic. i personally do not put my logo on any albums i give clients. i use graphi as one of my album companies as well, and always leave that box unchecked.
to be honest, im not really sure what the point is of having a studio name or logo in an album. i understand it is a widely accepted practice, but i just dont care for it. i know if i was getting married even if i loved my photographer (and im sure i would!) i still wouldnt want his logo and name stamped on my album. it's my album of my wife and myself on our wedding, we dont need the branding and logos all over it.
like i said im sure most people would disagree with me, but i just dont see what advantages it brings. i understand it has uses like if you were to make a sample for a coordinator or reception hall, sure put your logo on the album definitely, but to just do it on everything including people's own personal albums.... i just dont care for that. i think it's a personal thing though.

I think having your name in the album can be a very important referral source. When that bride is showing the album to everyone, your name will inconspicuosly be there for them to see. We put ours on the inside front cover, and use a color that will not scream "look at me."
Also, from my perspective as a previous bride, it was really helpful to me. I only had two vendors that I loved from my wedding: our photographer and our florist. My sister in law got married a few years after us, also in Santa Barbara. I am horrible with names and couldn't remember either of their names. By then we had moved three times and I was pregnant with our first child. I really didn't know where all my wedding stuff was. I was able to look at our album rather than dig through everything to find something with her name on it. I had to make my mom dig out all of her old financial stuff to find a check with the florists name on it, what a pain.

right i understand all that lynn, and i dont think it's a bad thing, but it's definitely not for me. i really feel like i create enough of an experience and relationship with my clients where i dont need my logo on their album to get their referrals. i think (hope!) that people would want to ask who's work it is if they love it, not have the logo on the album for everyone to see. it just comes across as slightly tacky to me, but again it's just my opinion.
another thing i mentioned to alisha in our convo was i felt like if a bride ever emailed me and said "listen i loved working with you, but we really dont want your logo branded into our wedding album, can you replace the cover?" i could not say no to that. im have elevation (www.yourelevation.com) do my new website and when it's launched id rather tell people about them rather than them forcing their logo on my website. just an example.

You don't want to come across as a generic photographer. Why would you want to give out generic albums?

I think you've got a good point, I kind of think they're tacky too. But...
There is a local studio in Utah,
Busath. I'm not going to say they're the best studio in town. HOWEVER - It's almost a status symbol to have them shoot your wedding because they're expensive and they have a great reputation. I don't know whether or not they put logos on their albums, but I do know their customers would be upset if their $500 enlargement didn't have a Busath signature on it.
It'd be like buying a Mercedes and then removing all of the emblems. Sure you may appreciate a fine automobile, but you bought an E55 AMG instead of an Accord to make a statement. If you've got a company like that, it might make sense to brand your product.
Right now we dont logo our albums. We might head in that direction though. Still on the fence.

I had a die made and stamp the inside of the back cover with it. Nobody has ever had a comment about it, but they'll often run their fingers across it just because it's embossed and I guess that looks cool :-)
Depending on where it gets used I'll either blind emboss it, or use silver foil. I use Albums Unlimited, and if client complained about it, it would be fairly simple I think to replace that inside back cover panel without damaging the rest of the book.
