Got to shoot with
Becker today at his
Party of 5 workshop today and got to shoot an amazing couple. For those of you thinking of signing up for his workshop, DO IT.

It's totally worth the $$, and [b] is super cool guy. I think this years dates are filling up pretty fast, so if you're thinking of doing it, I'd sign up soon. I'd totally recommend it.
Check out
Becker's Blogto see some of his killer shots from the session.
Here are a few of the shots I grabbed.
Love these shots of Becker in action!

And of course his beautiful couple!

Chris, I just got a chance to check out your website for the first time....what are you doing at Becker's workshop?.....you are already an amazing photographer! Wow I am very impressed with your work....some of the best I have seen. Looks like you guys had a great time though...I plan on attending one myself if I can find the time.

Chris, your work is beautiful, but I understand why you went. Continuing to learn is what separates the good from the great. Somewhere I remember Becker saying he goes to at least one workshop a quarter to keep himself sharp. Worth every penny. We all need to be doing that.

I totally agree with Micheal. There's always new stuff to be learned. Becker and I do things very differently, (the do it yourself method vs. Pictage, JPEG vs. RAW), but he's very successful and there's a ton to learn. I wasn't really going as much to learn what he does photographically as much as what he does business wise, because the man has a tremendous business model set up. His branding is top notch. His customer service is amazing. I loved hearing how he does things and then looking at how I do things and trying to figure out if I should totally change parts of my system to be like his, or if there are small little things that he does that I could incorporate into what I do.
I hope a lot of you guys go! It's completely worth it if for nothing else to see his place! It's unreal!!

Ummmmm......no. David Jay, Becker, Mike Colon, Nathan and Amber Holrtiz, Garrett and Joy Nudd, these guys are rockstars.....I'm just a skinny 24 year old.
Pretty funny though, I was a music major so I could be a rock star and then when I realize that's not gonna happen, I go into wedding photography and now Amber calls me a rock star.....love the irony.

glad to hear the great review chris!! i got alisha a seat at b's workshop for her birthday, but i knew before even the first one happened that this was going to be a great experience for people. i think becker has a ton of stuff to teach people. while i favor the personalized approach much more than the pictage/outsource everything approach, i think even people who favor the latter could learn a lot of small stuff to incorporate into their businesses.
thanks for the great review chris and i hope to catch up with you soon enough my man!

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. There were so many little tidbits that I found so interesting. I actually just got back late this afternoon and Katie and I went out to dinner just to talk about all the ideas, mostly small stuff that we want to integrate into our business. Seriously, there were even just a few little photoshop tips (shortcuts actually) that he showed us that were almost worth the $ alone!

I'm really bummed I couldn't have been in Alisha's group! That would have been a REAL party!!

Next time you book a CA wedding let me know and I'm 2nd shootin!

Yep! He went through his branding, his workflow, his business structure, his camera settings, his studio and how he does his client consulations, his packages, etc etc. Very geared for the wedding photographer. I totally recommend it.

hey chris, thanks for the plug. it was good having you and after seeing your website and work, i get why some would wonder why you'd go to a workshop, but i do think it's so important to never stop learning and being inspired by those you admire. i have been "successful" for a while now, but i am always trying to learn more, all the time. i am headed to see buissink and bell next week in cinci and then i may have to check out those lacour folks down in ATL next.

Hey, Becker, I trust all is well with you. So happy to learn that the Party of 5 venture is proving successful for you!
Curious to know if you are still planning a DVD release. I recall you mentioning this while I was out there.
Best wishes to you!

hey bruce, i won't be releasing a DVD. we've thought about it, and instead of charging big bucks for a DVD set like a lot of other photographers, we are going to have lessons available online via download to ipod or just viewed on the web for a small fee that wya you only pay for the info you actually need. that is what www.thebschool.com is going to be all about. hopefully launching around wppi.

Cool stuff Chris!
Continuing to learn is definitely so important... it's too easy to plateau at a certain level of "well that works, so why change?" That's one thing that is so cool about the photography industry, it's constantly changing! And it's the rockstars that are leading the way.
