Full Version: Who else is stuck in San Antonio?

I'll post this in fun stuff because there is nothing I can do and I'm trying to stay happy :-)

Who else at PPA's Imaging USA and can't get out?

All flights were canceled today- and most of tomorrow. I'm stuck here until tomorrow - with 6pm being the earliest I can get out and even that is debatable at the moment - because they say tomorrow's weather is supposed to be worse.

Which cracks me up.. because it's just rain here... yet everyone is freaking out and the highways are even closing.

Get some salt trucks Texas... SALT the roads and everything would be OK - and de-icer for the plane.

Just kind of funny and silly to me because this is a nice spring day in the North and no reason at all to shut down a city or flights.

Sigh..

:-)

Oh well, I have a hotel and I have no weddings I have to rush to get back for - I guess I'll take a nap.

Garrett was supposed to fly in tonight around midnight...
His flight is cancelled and the earliest he can get out is 4:45 pm tomorrow.
And Graycen, our daughter, has been the sickest ever! sad.gif

Many people stuck there. Bummer.
Big sigh with you.

I guess make the best of it and network some more. smile.gif

Oh, dearest Sandra, you don't seem to understand where you are....

You are in Texas. We almost never get weather like this and we are not prepared for this type of weather. Most of the people in this state have NO idea how to drive on ice. We do not have snow tires, chains in our trunks, or shovels. We learned a long time ago in driver's ed that you're supposed to turn into the direction of the skid, but we don't remember that stuff when it's happening to us for the first time in 10 years.

Now, as for the planes, can't help you there.

Try to make the most of it.....go get some Tex Mex or some BBQ - you'll feel much better. Be thankful you're not in a cubicle. smile.gif

Oh yeah, you're exactly right. I don't understand at all. This really is a nice spring day to me. You wouldn't need chains or a shovel for this... just a bit of salt for the highways.

Just like when I lived in New Orleans and everyone would freak out about their pipes freezing once a year - to me I'm like.. well why not install them properly so that doesn't happen... because it does freeze every year. I just don't understand how towns can no have salt or airports can not have a de-icer.

My flight was already canceled for tomorrow too. Shrug. Oh well, nothing I can do.

I feel much better now that I've turned off the TV. I was fine until I turned it on and heard everyone freaking out and just couldn't handle it anymore :-)

We left at 2am today and drove down to Houston to fly out to Miami without any problems, but it has been a long dang day and then shooting all this evening an engagement session leading up to the wedding this weekend, well lets just say I am happy today is pretty much over smile.gif

Back to surfing the net and answering client emails smile.gif

Sorry us Texans don't have any salt trucks, we do not even get below 32 degrees in the South so when it does, well we simple do not have a way to handle it smile.gif

Good luck everyone getting home and again thanks for everyone that came by and saw me in the Collages.net booth, we had some fun and looking forward to WPPI.

I was in Mississippi when it snowed two inches. (I grew up in North Idaho in the mountains) Anyway, the power was out for THREE days, the 24 hour Wal-mart(!!) closed, as did every other store in town. We ended up going to a hotel until thepower came back on so we didn't freeze. Oh and you should've seen the wrecks!! I was amazed! I swear to you it was two inches. I guess we take nasty weather for granted! smile.gif

As much as I find this weather as a Northerner laughable... I didn't realize there were 18,000 people stranded without a place to stay. It's late and all but if anyone reads this and needs a place I have a hotel room. There is an extra bed in here - and I think this hotel has plenty of space too. The halls are completely quiet and empty. I'll be up late for a few more hours - just e-mail me - sandra@eauphoto.com

Hey Sandra!
Where are you? I'm still here in the great state of Texas too!! We all had a little pow wow lunch for OSP folks at the Marriott hotel. It was a good little crowd there today. My buddy and I were planning on staying until Friday anways. We are hoping to go and shoot over at the Alamo and then some other historic places around the city. I just hope it will stop raining for a little while. Anyways, no need to sit in a hotel room, come out and play with everybody!! laughing.gif Just PM me and we can all get together and have a pity party shoot off day! ha ha! I also have a little tip for you if you want to get out of San Antonio a little sooner................
