Alright guys,
I think we are all competitive on some level or another, it's just human nature.
A few of you expressed interest in February when I talked about possibly having another contest on here.
I would like to make a contest happen. I've spoken to DJ about it and he is very supportive. So, here's the deal. If we put on a contest, we want to offer some sort of tangible prize(s), and we'd like to have a fair number of entries.
So, if you would seriously consider entering pictures, post back on here so we can get an idea of how many of you are truly interested.
Also, would you like to have feedback as to your images scored well, where they could be improved?
What sort of categories would you like to see?

I'm interested, Tim. As far as categories, how about portrait, wedding, nature?

count me in!! i would love some constructive criticism to be part of it as well. will this be peer-reviewed, or judged by one or two judges? as far as categories go . . . how about posed and pj categories for: wedding, children, families, animals. will this be the contest that has some lensbabies as prizes?!?

If we do a contest, I will post some pics. I would really like there to be some feedback since I have never had anyone seriously critique my images.

Hey Tim... I'd like to see portraiture, fashion, children as categories.... and yes I will be involved.

It's definitely time for a contest. Count me in, too! I'd love to see more obscure categories than the usual. . .maybe something like "Blue". . .or "Old". . .or "Motion". I'm sure we can come up with categories that will force us to use our creativity and shoot something new and different instead of relying on images we already have. Let's shoot!

I'll second Brian's comment about CG's post. Good ideas! Would love to participate! I can't help, however, but go back to wanting the occassional wedding photo contests, possibly with different categories...

Just two quick notes:
1. Geek & Geekette,
I like the new avatar. You both look so cool and reserved. But I loved the previous one that was more loose and rebellious!
2. Mary Jane,
There's just something fun and playful about you sitting in some flowers wearing roller skates and responding to the forum post with: "I want to play too!" It's a refreshing child-like innocence.

I am so there. Maybe we all could come up with say 10 categories and then all of us could vote on one to do for that week or month or however long it would last. Either way im in.

I'm in. Just make sure you have a spot news, general news, assigned feature, enterprise feature, feature multipe, sports action, sports feature, food...
seriously, I agree with alan, less is more
category suggestions for real:
1 moment
2 light
3 assigned (this could be the categry we all choose for that particulary month. ie red, corners, motion, etc)

ahh.. spot news category.. take that one out of my joke. I can't believe I put that one in!! Such an unfun photograph to take. replace that category with portrait. now my joke is complete.
oye, is my joke spent?
hah.

I'd love to get in the mix too regardless of the format.
I wouldn't mind a live shooting contest sometime too ... meaning you'd give an assignment and we'd have a couple weeks or so to come up with our best take at it in the context of a "to be shot" wedding, rather than just pulling from files. I'd get worked but I'd like the challenge!
For the more traditional contest, I'm in agreement with Alan as well. Let's keep it simple to start.

I say we all do it anonymously as guests or something...then that way no one can be biased...but just have the images numbered. And then at the end of the 2 weeks or so DJ can reveal which numbered image received the most votes.
KK
Like if i knew Dane entered an awesome image...I woudl rather vote for his than my own cuz his images are soo powerful! It's the name remember????

Katherine,
Good vote on the annoymous issue. Actually, in the past all the contests have been that way and it's worked out well.
