My other half decided to go with purple, so i dont wnat to argue! guys should know what i mean, but if u can come up with any reason to think another colour would be better please tell me, i want and need some ideas.
i have 2 proposals, one on a white background and another for a white background!!
give me all your dieas good and bad, alterations and ideas and if you feel u wnat to take a shot at it,w id just appreciate your opinions!
thanks guys

In my opinion, the swirly thing is distracting. Also, something to consider is whether or not the logo looks good in black and white.
If I had to choose between the two, the first one is easier to read - "Ross" disappears in the second one.
If you want to hire someone to do it for you, this girl
http://www.steiert-design.com/ did mine and she is awesome. Plus, she is very reasonably priced. She also did my business cards, letterhead, CD packaging, etc.

Ditto what Jill said.
I have designed sveral logos for myself and It took forever and most are really sucky. Your logo above is way better then my efforts! I would hire someone to design a logo. Jill's is pretty rad so I would hire here designer in a second! When designing a logo you also have to take into consideration how it will be printed, which has been an issue with my efforts.
Good luck, you are off to a great start. Go with purple!

As mentioned in several other threads on OSP -
leave the designing up to designers.
It's worth your money in the long run to pay someone to do your logo. Brand is key.

I agree that the swirls a pretty distracting and look... well, for lack of a better word, messy. I personally think that cleaner, more simplistic logos are the most effective ones, but that's just personal preference.

I'm in full agreement here. I think the swirls are distracting and don't really mean anything as far as defining yourself. It's only a bit beyond using a fancy font, to be honest.
I like the purple. That's what we're going with on one of our concepts right now, and my fiance loves the purple (especially because blue is a color we are both drawn to, we were trying to avoid having blue EVERYWHERE; and while pink is MY favorite color, he wasn't going to go that route for a joint venture).

thanks guys, appreciate the quotes. it is my first attempt, and well ill go for your advice and go to a pro designer! any suggestions other than jills designer, who will do it at a reasonable price?
i think ill stay with the purple, and katilan my other halfs fav colour is pink too! she loves scarletts site. i think going pink even though he may like it is pushing his manliside! i know even with the purple in the logo above i was questioning maybe i should stay with red/blue/green/orange something that isnt associated with the opposite, but then i thought well purple is nice its even and also being a guy you are reaching both sides of the market, and usually its the gals who look for a photographer not the guys! well thats what ive found!

Ross,
I'd recommend my designer Stacey at
Bombshell Something you might want to think about is your design brief, what do you want to communicate? What does your logo say about your business? There's a design brief template on Stacey's website.
Tell her I sent you!!
