So I went from Mum, Dad and one toddler, which I think I handled pretty well, to 5 kids and a dad, which is an entirely different dynamic altogether!!
How in the heck do you make 5 kids all sit together and get a decent photographic response from them??!!??!! I feel I failed at the group, but I'm happy with the single catches.
More on the Blog of course.

I think that group shot of the kids is great! It may not be the conventional "happy huggy" photo but, each kid has their own personality and you can see that in the photo. Though I like them all the first is actually my fav. the composition, color, location, and lighting work really well. I could say more but I think you get the idea..

Good job! We have 5 kids, so I know exactly what you are talking about! Its really hard to even get all the eyes open at the same time, looking somewhat towards the camera, etc. much less in one spot at one time. One thing we would do that really got their attention was have them make the most awful expressions at the camera and I would rattle off a string of shots as they contorted their faces, arms, hands, heads, etc. in all kinds of manner. Then once they were worn out on that one, it was a little easier to keep them corraled for a few good shots!

haha - good suggestions thanks Mike - I must try that, my 'telling people what to do' skills are still being developed.
thanks Steve, I had the dad as my 'mobile light stand' - he and I just chased them around, him with the 580EX and me with the camera - by the end he got really good at figuring out where to be and even adjusting the settings on the flash as I asked him too - I must get another light-stand like him!
