MY LITTLE PMA REPORT
I checked out the tradeshow at PMA today in Orlando and I must tell you . . . I was blown away! I could not believe the amount of time, effort, and $$$$ the big players put into marketing their products to us little people. The tradeshow floor was definitely as glitsy as the Detroit Auto Show, with live, choreographed performances, models galore, and fun new toys all over the place. I really have never seen anything like it.
I spent a lot of time at the Canon exhibit playing with lenses and the new Digital Rebel XT (AKA the 350D), then I stopped over at Epson to check out the P-2000, I caught some cool tips from Julieanne Kost over at Adobe, and finally I caught up with my friends at Bon Match Albums, the coolest album company in the world!
The two most eye-catching exhibits, in my opinion, were from Polaroid, who had with them one of the few 20x24 large-format polaroid cameras in existence (yes, the same one that William Wegman photographs his weimaraners with) AND Kodak, who had a 25-by 50-foot collage of prints that ranged from 4x6 to 40x60 -- quite impressive!
I was only at the show for a couple of hours and I'm wiped out! If I were to really give this show the time it deserved it would honestly take a couple of days. Without that kind of time (or energy) on my hands, I'm ending my little show report right here.
Let me know if any of you are in town for PMA. I'd love to hear your feedback and experiences, too!
Later Taters,
Brian
