Full Version: How to Create a "Signature Mat"
OpenSourcePhoto > The Business Side > Workflow

We've received a few questions about how to create the signature mats around the images on our blog, and so I wanted to post a link to the actions that we created, thanks in part to Ben Vigil!

Download it here!

Keep in mind that once you load the actions into Photoshop, you're going to have to do a couple of things.

1. Create the transparent layer with your logo that is going to lay on top of your photograph with its colored border. Create a new, transparent document the size that your picture with it's colored border will be, open your logo, and lay it on the document where you prefer. Save this document as an unflattened TIFF in a folder that you want the action to pull from. Edit the folder location in the action.

2. Customize the actions to meet your preferences - border size, color of the border, etc.

By the way... If you need more clarification, just ask questions here! It's late and my explanation may be a little rough... wacko.gif

Let me get this straight....
Open the image you want to use. Does the action size it, or do you size it first?
Make two seperate images, one with a border, and one with the text.
Run the action to open the border and text and lay it on your photo. (Can you make an action do this? It seams I have tried before and it hasn't worked.)

I assume that the border layers and text layers have to be sized in relationship to the original image. That is where the sizing of the original image is important.

Let me know if I am way off here.
