Some OSPers are getting together to do a trash a dress session with some models in Savannah in February. We just wanted to put the word on the board in case anyone else near by wanted to join us for some portfolio pieces. Exact date is still to be determined, but it's definitely in February.

Hey All - Once I get a better # of who's in for the trip I'll call around and score us some sweet hotel deals. Our choices are:

We can stay in the Historical Savannah area or maybe something on Tybee Island. www.tybeeisland.com (which is about 30 mins from Savannah) Tybee has some cheap hotel rates right on the beach. BTW - Sandra Bullock has a house there for those of you with extreme telephoto lenses... Let me know what you guys are more interested in and I'll see what I can cook up....

Only 2 hrs... I just don't see how that's fair. I'm about 5 hrs away so I'll prolly stay 2 or 3 days and look at the freezing ocean water. If we want to just have a day outting then that's cool, I'm up for anything.

You kill me. Not that much snow, just lots of ice and steep hills, and I'm the only one with a SUV and 4 wheel drive so I'm the chauffuer to many

Too funny that you mentioned the 23 - that is my wedding day in SAVANNAH!! I would join you guys if you were doing it on that day but I will probably be a little busy with getting married and all! I was originally going to have to make a trip to Savannah around the 9th for final details but I do not think that I have to do that now so unfortunately I will not be there. Have fun though!

I'd love to be a part of it.

Okay, here is my update-

February 9th- maybe okay. I was trying to talk myself into doing a booth for half a day at the Southern Women's Show. So talk me out of it and this date is good for me.

February 17th- absolutely out for me unless someone wants to come help me photograph a Gala at the Jepson Center that evening too.

I live on the edge of the downtown historic district between DT and the beach -- I have a spare bedroom if someone wants to stay with me -- Jill? Scarlet? Kandice?


Models- I have a former bride and a few local models that I have worked with who are interested in work for trade. I will need to get the dates coordinated soon though.

The skinny on the locations-- they are all well spread out

Tybee area- the beach (no brainer), Ft. Pulaski (civil war fort), Bonaventure Cemetary

Islands-the marsh (Skidaway Island/Isle of Hope), Wormsloe ruins

Downtown- River Street/Factor's Walk, Alleys/Cobblestone Streets

Maybe a nightime session using flashlights?

Edited to add- If anyone is interested in staying at the Mansion on Forsyth -- let me know. I can get you a reduced room rate. It's still crazy $$$ but you can at least live like a Rock Star!

I'm all for staying with you or finding a cheap room. I'm going to Savannah next weekend for a splurge weekend with some friends, so I'll be looking to be cheap since the 9th will be just a few weeks after my upcoming trip.

Yo funny! My friend Ricki will be coming down with me so we'd need 2 beds so we'll prolly just have to stay at the hotel. Do you ever do any beach weddings? Id be all about coming down and helping you shoot sometime, we have no beaches up my way and Ive wanted to shoot one for far too long.

Im up for a night shoot.. I think I've decided to stay 2 days so those who stay can just keep shooting I guess. Savannah is such an awesome place.. why are we just now thinking of this?!?

ohmygoodness..i'm so jealous. savannah is one of my favorite places in the world!!

Pros and Cons:

Do the show/ your feet will hurt and your cheeks will ache from smiling.

Hang out with us/ laugh lots, have fun, luv life.

Do the show/ you spend a ton of money getting your booth ready, haul all your stuff in and out of the place, repeatedly answer the same 5 questions.

Hang out with us/ you'll learn lots, teach lots, get killer folio pictures and hang out with some of the coolest people ever!

So, if its on the 9th, does anyone have a timeframe?. Would this be something we could leave out early early friday morning (4-5 hr drive for us) and maybe stay over Friday night? Or are you guys going to be in full swing by 1st thing Friday morning?

I'm planning on driving up Friday morning, and as of right now I won't be spending the night. I also have family near by, so I might go stay with them to squeeze in a visit.

So is everyone thinking of like doing this around lunch time, early afternoon?




I don't vote for the beach because I have that down here and shoot the beach anytime.

I do vote for the marsh though around the islands.

I'd also rather do daytime and not night.

The FABULOUS NUDDS are shooting our wedding!!! We are having ceremony and reception at the Mansion on Forsyth Park. If you can get a good rate it is an absolutely fantastic place to stay. We will be staying there on our wedding night but will spend the rest of the weekend at The River Street Inn with our friends and family. We have 6 weeks to go - I am really getting EXCITED!!

Hmmm....might be G somebody.....and there might be a dress trashing anyway!!!

What about trashing the dress around River Street? There are so many cool fountains close by too. I know the fountain trashing is done a lot - but these fountains/squares are so cool. Plus - the cobbblestone, the back alleys, and lots of shady opportunities for mid day.

Yeah that was my second choice!

Friday Morning block- Marsh/Isles of Hope area

Lunch meet up with people coming in from farther out of town from noon to 2pm

2- whenever Downtown Savannah
Sunset is at 6pm -- if we can stage being around River Street during this time I'm up for some bridge shots at sunset.

Saturday morning- sunrise at the beach?
