I'm usually one or the other, but not both. The only thing that has ever really SAVED me has been file recovery software. I'm amazed what it can do. I've had the fewest problems with ScanDisk cards.
If your camera takes a while to write the image after it's captured, make sure you let it do its necessary "thinking" before trying to preview it or turn off your camera. That's where I've heard most people running into problems... not letting the buffer unload after a rapid fire shoot. Also, I'm sure you know this, but always format your cards instead of deleting, just to get rid of any corrupt info that may be lingering.
I have wondered if I unconciously did something to cause the corruption. I can't say. But yes, I always format in camera. In fact, each card get's formated with one of the cameras during the pre-event checklist, and then, time permitting, when a new card is inserted at the event, it's checked for images (I'm paranoid) and then reformatted to the specific body. I have so many cards now, I may assign specific cards to specific camera bodies. Hmmm. That may be getting too anal. Thanks Anne!
