Full Version: SIW on dot mac account?
OpenSourcePhoto > GetIt > Showit Web

My current website is a folio site and doesn't allow me to edit pages except through the provided portal.

I'd like to upload my slideshows to my .mac account. Is this possible, and if so, how? I watched DJ's tutorial on how to ftp to the site, and I tried using transmit, but it can't seem to connect to the server.

If I can't use .mac, can anyone provide a list of blogs that support SIW?

Thanks,
Jess

Hi Jess

I have never used SIW so I'm not quite sure what type of file you end up with (i assume flash) but I'm pretty sure you can use your .mac account if you stick it in the right place.

With a .mac account you don't really need any ftp software as you have direct access to your idisk which contains all the folders you need to upload your slideshow. From the the top menu in your Finder select Go/iDisk/My iDisk or access it from the left menu in a new Finder window (the iDisk icon).

Your iDisk should appear on your desktop. Open the iDisk at look for a folder called 'Sites'. This is the folder you should be using. If you were to drop a file into this folder, such as a flash movie, the web address to view it would be:

http://homepage.mac.com/username/yourslideshow.swf

Hope that makes sense.

Alan,

Sorry for taking so long to respond to this. I finally got a chance to test this out. I did exactly what you said, but I uploaded the entire SIW folder to the "sites" folder and it worked! (I read somewhere that you need all of the bits and pieces for it to work) Yay! Now I can but the program.

Thank you so much!
