Looking for CC on the new card design. I tried to keep it consistent with the new website for branding purposes. Thoughts?

i'm thinking i'd like to see more of the photo / less of the big grey area or a bigger area for the photo. 2 cents.

I don't really love seeing email addresses on cards. Personally, I think that they look messy. I agree about the big grey box... the font is either too large, or too small for that box.

Let me add that i do like the ring shot that you are using!

Thanx for your inputs Michael and Carrie,

Actually, I just had an idea from your comments. The original thought was to show the rings and the heart shaped shadow they make on the book on the site header, but I didn't have enough width in the original image to be able to do that, since the header on the site is from a template and I don't know much about html or css to change that.

Anyway, I am going to reduce the size of the grey box enough so that the image shows the rings and the heart shadow.

Carrie, would you suggest to have the business name and web page only? Or simply remove the email address and leave the phone and web page?

Anyone else?
Ashley Anne
I think it looks really good. Simple and clean. I think if you put your tagline in the sanserif font that you use for the email and phone number it would help give it an even more modern feel. -Ashley

Heya.. I think that the webpage and phone number are enough info for a business card... are you wanting them to go to your blog first?

The hear shaped shadow would add a lot, I think... I'd love to see how that looks on the card!!

I disagree with the comments about more photo less grey box. I think your layout looks good. The sliver of image is more unique than the stereotypical photog's card. Don't mess with that.

I also disagree with the comment about not putting email on a card. A business card is about simple contact info. I'd be ticked if I pulled out your business card to send you a quick email and found out instead that I had to go to your website to find your email address. I don't understand why you have /blog after your address... that looks tacky. Just have them go to www.rosyspix.com.

The "Rosy's Photography" should be in the same color as the brown on the bottom of the card.
You need to kern the s closer to the apostrophe.

Other than that, it's a solid effort.

Never thought of that, but I guess if it's a distinguishing mark, I am going to leave it as is.

The reason I have /blog at the end is because my Wordpress blog is my website. Currently I don't have enough jobs and/or $$ to either get a website template or have a website designed for my business. However, I am thinking of moving WP to the home directory so it will simply be www.rosyspix.com. I'll see how the brown color on "Rosy's Photography" looks like. I was going for consistency between the way the site and the business card look like, but I'll definitely try it.

Thanks for you inputs Kevin, very much appreciate them.

I agree with Swan about matching the "Rosy's" font color to the gold at the bottom.

Now that you've got a general idea of what you want the card to look like using the site's template, use that and then make your own FULLY EDITABLE design in photoshop. If you don't know how, it will be such a great learning tool.

Actually I did design it in PShop. Originally I used Publisher but when I saved the JPEG it only saved it at 150DPI and WHCC requires 300DPI, so I redid it in PShop.

I'll change the color tonight at home. Thanx for all the good input.

I thinks it's fine however if it where me,
I would change the tag to a different font from the company name = something in italics or a modern script, I would increase the size of both the name and tag by a couple of points to fill the grey space rather than as suggested increase the picture. the picture is smashing as it is, now change the font of the website (definatley loose the email, force people through your site) and the telephone to the same as the company name and adjust them as neccessary to compliment the space at the bottom of the card. Also do whatever it takes to get rid of that blog thing on your address its pants and needs to go.
but then what do I know
all the best

Just have your website point directly to your blog for now. That way, when your site is up, you don't have to change your cards.

I always thought less was more but, this is a good point. You can drive people to you web site if you leave the email off the card but as Kevin mentioned you don't want to 'tick' people off which is too easy to do. Have you thought about taking the "creating" off the tag line? I think it makes a bigger impact without it... Make sure all the boxes are evenly spaced the bottom two are closer than the top. Overall it's a nice card! thumbsup.gif

I found an article on WP about how to move a WP blog to the root directory. I'll be doing that late tonight.

Never thought of that, but it does have a ring to it. Thanx for the suggestion, I'll seriously consider it. Anyone else, thoughts on removing the "Creating" from the tagline?

Swan took everything out of my mouth to say about the card!! the only thing id change would be the font and change the main title of rosys.... into the same as the bottom, get rid of the blog in the middle, confusing replace it with an email on your right and in the centre your website. the photograph is great wouldnt change it.

you can find lots of free downloadable fonts from dafont just download, open and drag into your font book on a mac, or fonts in your contorl panel on windows and anything with a word processor will have the new font.

also maybe think about the back of your card, are you keeping it plain or going to have something on it?

for my charity business card i used one side for details and the other side to display the charitys logo with the website below.
m. chau
i like the card. it's simple, nice lines, not to crowded. i agree with the others about keeping your contact and website.

For the first time.... I whole heartedly agree with Swanny on this one. Seriously... I was going to make the SAME EXACT comments!! So... ditto what he said - take our advice - we are smart.

I took some of the recommendations made yesterday and made some changes last night. I include both updates here for comparison. Let me know which one looks better.

I agree with Ashley:)

i still think they typeface on everything has a lot to be desired. The fonts you've chosen just feel amateur to me. I would try something like, Futura, Helvetica, or something along those lines, clean - professional look. As of now, it looks like you've used 1 of the 6 fonts that came with Windows 95. Just being honest. Other than that... I think you have a solid layout here.
