I always hated the blackberry, the treo, all of those.
I was watching all of the videos from MacWorld, and OH MY GOODNESS I want an iPhone!!!!

And I'm already on Cingular! Yee haw!

So who else was drooling over that bada$$ little thing??

Don't know if I could drool over a $600 phone!!

I'm drooling - but I think I have to wait until the end of the year for it to be released in Europe. Bummer.

I am a huge Apple fan, and I am drooling. I just picked up a new phone and signed an additional one year contract with a different provider. This contract will have to be broken. The price in no different than paying for a blackberry, or a Treo. I am stoked about the iphone.

if apple holds true to form the first iphone will be the slowest and least user friendly phone of their creative line up that i'm sure will be coming 6-8 months after their first release. i'm with verizon and i think that apple has nade a HUGE mistake in only working with cingular on this. i've never met or talked with anyone who was glad to be with cingular. no matter, the phone is definately cool but i have to be honest after all of my rebates and two year customer appreciation with verizon i ended up getting the treo 700p for $146! i'm not likely to spend two months of car payments on a phone. my other hang up is that the phone is all touch screen...how long will that hold up? don't get me wrong i'm the biggest apple fan south of the mason dixon. i drink my coffee from a 1989 apple mug. i spent days convincing my wife to upgrade to a mac book and get rid of all her old pc junk. my kids will hear the word apple and think only of the steve jobs and his amazing mind for engineering great computers! but i don't think that the iphone is worth the $600 bucks. hopefully steve didn't patent everything and ol' gates will come out with zune phone so that the price might drop. nevertheless, no phone is worth being enslaved to cingular for two years. i think it'll be interesting to see how the first generation of iphone plays out.

just my opinion.
peace.

My hubby and I were both sitting here watching the keynote and drooling with our mouths wide open. But then we went back to loving our Blackberry Pearls for the time being because, well, we got them for FREE (after $50 mail-in rebate). So that's making me feel better right now. Especially since we just got them two months ago and stuck with a two year contract....yikes. That's not looking so good.

So, (threadjack) do Blackberries work well with the Apple software? I want to have the same contacts in my address bookand in my email on my apple as my cell phone.

(threadback)How can I do that without buying this $600 touchscreen apple phone that really doesn't exist yet, and already has a lawsuit for copyright infringement filed against it? Cisco has owned the word iPhone for 20 years. (probably with a lowercase 'p'.)

Many of us are using the Blackberry Pearls with our Macs. Just download the free software PocketMac SyncManager. I use it for all of my addressbook, iCal, etc.

You are mistaken, we are not drooling over "just a phone" because IS NOT just a phone but rather a 6.5 " Screen Video Ipod, real web browser, a better voice mail messanger, a better PDA, computer and a better Phone. I think the price tag is fair considering everything it has. Just go to your local CompUSA and buy a Good phone, a good PDA and Video Ipod but you won't have a 6.5" screen) and see if you don't pay way more, and the PDA and phone still won't be as good.

The IPhone is just way, way better that what is outhere. The manufacturers of PDA, Phones and MP3 player are probably cursing at APPLE for raising the bar once again. But I suspect it will or should spark the creative juices at those companies and that probably will bring the prices down.

I myself are waiting for my current contract with my cel phone provider to be over to change to Cingular so I an get my new toy!!

part of what makes a blackberry so great is the keyboard. i'd like to know how well the screen input is on the iphone. meaning how fast can one type on it?

that said, the iphone looks pretty awesome! i wouldn't get it for it's pda options, rather the mp3 player and address book and phone are what draws me to this.

That's what I love about my modded xv6700, it looks almost identical to the iphone, it has true pda functionality, 4 gb mini sd card worth of music/videos, I still have my slideout keyboard for fast typing and text, I have a killer contact and phone, voice dialing, touch screen if I want.

The iphone is cool, but I would wait.
Here are my predictions for complaints the first 3 months:

1) The battery life bites! It wont last anything like they say it will.
2) We need a keyboard. The screen is just getting way to gunked up all the time.
3) Wheres my stylus? My fingers are too big or Why do I have to take off my gloves every time I want to do anything.
4)The Battery life bites! (again)
5) It keeps (doing something wrong) since its the first generation of this, there are going to be many bugs and problems.
6)Where's my $300 discount I get with all the other smart phones? Why do I have to pay $600 plus a two year contract plus $40 for data?

Anyway, I would wait. It will be cool and neat and unique, but you would definately want to wait for them to perfect it more at this first (beta) test.

Oh and I just ordered my Treo 750 for Cingular from Amazon for 99 after 50 rebate. smile.gif

I think the Treo and Blackberry keyboards are really bad (and I have very slender fingers). This might not be any better, but it won't be any worse. Most people read e-mail and type sms on phones.

Stylus's get lost.

They've been right on the money with battery life on every other product they have released. They understand how important that is.

It runs OS X, which is a mature operating system - and they have control over the hardware, unlike Windows Mobile.

No discount because they won't need to to get customers.

Finally, it's not just about the phone; it's about how it all integrates together (with iTunes - both music and video - being a big part of the draw). Full streaming solutions just aren't there yet.

don't know if I posted this yet, but for all you drooling over the iphone, it's been released that you can get one here faster than the normal release date.

enjoy. thumbsup.gif
