Hi,

It is required in WA that you have to have a license if you do business within city limits. You have to get it for each city you are going to do business. I had several inquiries to do a destination weddings and wonder if you guys contact each city you're going to travel to to obtain a business license? Is it considered doing business if you shoot a wedding? engagement session, etc?

Thank you,

We have a business license in the city where we're physically located. We shoot in many neighboring cities and states, but we don't keep licenses for those places. You only need a license for where you're located.

Here is one way to look at it. I'd bet UPS only has business licenses where they have facilities. Even though their trucks roll through and deliver to every town in the country, I doubt they maintain business licenses for EVERY town and city.

Alex,

Our business is in Charleston, SC and I have been checking into it lately, as well. I have a business license for the city I am located in, but there are probably 12-15 different places within 15 miles that I shoot in (they ARE in the same county, however)... Would be very frustrating, time consuming and EXPENSIVE to have a business license for each of these municipalities.
I think I will stick with one B.L. for now, since technically my inquiries, meetings, and packages all originate in North Charleston..I just can't imagine having to get a new business license every time I do a single wedding in a new municipality. Anyways, good luck and let me know if you have any other advice.

Also, there is another thread from a while back that has good discussion on this topic that you may find helpful.
