hi all, i'm a new member here. if i'm posting in the wrong section, please move me to the correct place.

well, after watching DJ's bridge raw default workflow, i bought the brilliant pack. however, i'm not 100% sure as to how i should setup the bridge raw default. should i pick a random photo first and the create my bridge raw default first? or should i just open a photo and then select brilliant as the setting and then save that as the raw default?

i find that on some of my photos, if i use brilliant, it just downplay the colors and textures. is there a special trick to it? should i just shoot the RAW with a neutral setting and then apply the brilliant setting to it?

i'm using shooting with a 30D. thanks.

welcome to the board! i personally think you should either go with an auto setting for the default or one that you find yourself using more than the others. the idea is to speed up your flow... so if you set it to "x" but see your constantly changing it to "y"... then why not set "y" as the default. sorry for the variable references... im a math junkie!

I think 'Brilliant' is close to what DJ taught us that he used as his Camera Raw Default in the movie where the images of the back lit couple at the ski resort all change saturation while we watch in Bridge. I'll bet he will chime in as soon as he is caught up on celebrity weddings and People Magazine submissions. He is generous that way.

wow... thanks for the warm welcome. i look forward to lurking here more often. wink.gif

now.. this may sound like a stupid question, but it's my first time... *don't get the wrong ideas...* laugh.gif using bridge. so do i do the following:
1. open photo in bridge
2. click on triangle and select "USE AUTO ADJUSTMENTS or CTRL U"
3. save setting as camera raw default?

btw, should i edit the LENS tabs to set the Vignette first? or just set it at -75 & 35 like DJ has it?

thanks...

matt, that's the thing.. i kept changing the Y part of the equation, so that's why i asked. btw.. i'm horrible at math.. but when it comes to saving money i'm pretty savvy i think. wink.gif

i couldn't learn math when i was a kid.. my mom and brother tried to teach me.. but it never clicked till they started using real money to teach me.. haha laughing.gif
