user posted imageRan across a link to LensBabies.com on a different photography forum, certainly looks like it could be a bit of fun for those Holga/Diana fans around here :-) $96. It's a plastic tilt/shift/flexible tens for SLR cameras.

These are sweet but don't buy them yet! We're working on getting a bunch of them to give away as prizes... We briefly met the creator in New Orleans and Tim bought one and has been playing with it ever since - let's see if we can get him to post up some pics!

...maybe a shot of his new car!!!

Sounds good, I'm driving to Bishop tonight to do a photoshoot with a friend from school at Sunrise tomorrow. We're actually shooting my car, so I'll click off a few of my own shots while he's shooting and I'll post them tomorrow.
Definitely a pretty wild lens. Being a 4x5 lover, this lens makes me smile smile.gif
Will share soon.

Speaking of cool lenses wouldn't it be great if Canon made a 16-200 L f2.8 sharp from corner to corner?

That would clear up a bunch of room in my bag!

Lens Babies are such a great product and such a great concept. I was introduced to them last year by Kevin Kubota. I haven't used one yet, but I'd like to smile.gif

Sometimes, as photographers, we need to step out of our comfortable little boxes and start taking risks with our photography -- even if the risk is something as small as plopping a $100 bendable plastic lens on your $4000 DSLR body.

Along these lines . . . has anyone had any experience with a pinhole body cap?

By the way, I'd like to introduce myself, so HI EVERYBODY! It's great to be here. Thanks, David!

Hey Brian!

Great to have you! ...because Brian's self intro was short and sweet I'll tell you more. I met this future superstar out in New Orleans and he's got a mind and a talent that's gonna take him a long long way! Be sure to checkout his website! Click here!

Glad you're here and that pinhole thing looks cool!

Ciao!

Brian,

DJ wasn't joking around; you have some sweet stuff on your site. Excellent photography! Welcome to the forum. This is a wonderful community of photographers. From the looks of your images, you will have a lot to offer.

Welcome.

Thank you, DJ and Kurt! I'm looking forward to sharing, learning, and growing with you and the other photographers on this forum. Major props to DJ for setting up this website.

I'm learning from you guys already . . . I just picked up Love is the Killer App last night at Borders. Thanks for the great reading list!

Until next time,

Brian

Brian --- Welcome... I'm sure you will find a wealth of knowledge here at OSP... Let me introduce myself... My name is Gregg and I am a protrait photographer who focuses more on photography as an art more than a profession. I'm going to start doing more weddings and standard portraits, but right now I'm tryin to go digital. Right now I am currently working on a lot of photos for a gallery show I'm doing this summer.

Look forward to talking to you more...

--- Gregg

Nice! That book rocks!!! Dane Sanders gave it to me and it changed my life! I've read it twice in the past 5 months and I can't stress enough how important network building is!

Tim Sanders is the man!

Gregg,

Thanks for introducing yourself! I am interested in learning more about your upcoming gallery show. Having a gallery show is an exciting thought to me and actually a goal of mine.

What is the theme of the work that you'll be showing? Can we see any sneak previews? How did you get the gig?

Congrats on not making photography your profession. Sometimes, the business of photography can muddle the art of photography.

Of course, if you do make photography your profession, I'd give you a "congrats" as well. I think DJ and others would agree that the artistic/creative side of the business never goes away (if it did, I would've been outta here a long time ago).

Unfortunately, I often find myself in front of my monitor more often than I'm behind my camera. Things are not always as fun as they were before.

There are some major positive sides to the profession that far outweigh the negatives, however. Here are two that come to mind:

1. The best thing that I've found about being "in the business" are the rewards that come from working with clients. I feel so incredibly lucky to have worked with so many wonderful people over the course of my short career. If I have impacted their lives a fraction of the amount they have impacted mine, then I feel like I have accomplished and fulfilled something great.

2. Being a professional photographer gives you a great excuse to buy expensive lenses and other fun toys. smile.gif Besides, now I can write off all kinds of things as legitimate business expenses.

Sorry to rant so much. I guess I'm just happy to be here. I'm really interested in hearing more about your show. Are there any others out there who have had a gallery show? Please share!

Until Next Time,

Brian

Alright, I promised images tonight... and though I'm failing miserably on the selection, I've got two that I was able to process before photoshop decided it didn't like me and my laptop tonight... so, here's two pics I shot at sunrise this morning in Bishop of my new car using the Lens Baby. I'm going to hop back into photoshop and see if I can't pull out a few more images.

OK, now I've got to get one of those puppies in my hands.

Which one should I but first (the lensbaby or that sweet-looking Audi)?

Nice shots, Tim!
Tim Halberg
Seriously, who needs a 4x5 or an expensive tilt/shift lens. This puppy does it all.
Tim Halberg
alright guys, I really need to figure out how to just load a bunch of pics into one post, rather than replying a million times...
Tim Halberg
This pic gives you a great perspective on how this lens might be used in a wedding situation. Though in this case, we're in an airport situation. I think the guy knew I was taking his picture, and he didn't seem too stoked on it.
davidjay
DUDE! THOSE SHOTS ARE SICK!!! Well worth the 7 hours and 45 minutes of sleep you gave up to get those pics! ...and your car is freakin' AWESOME TOO!

I definitely need to get one or both as well! I think I'll start with the lensbaby though! ...it's a bit lighter on the pocketbook!

YEA! that's what I'm talking about! I hear having this excuse is even more important once you're married!

yeah, I need to spend some time in photoshop touching the images up and see what I come out with.
Thanks for the compliments.
