Is there a way to get ShowIT Borders (as well as ShowIT effects) to work with CS3 yet?

Sorry if this topic has already been covered!!

I installed Showit Effects to CS3 the same way I did for CS2. So far it works fine for me without any problems. *knock on wood*
Ross

I don't have Showit Borders but I think it comes with a script. Since the folder directory is a bit different in CS3, I think you need to find the correct script folder.

Bump, now that the full version of CS3 is out there.

Installed SIB into CS3, but I'm still getting a script error when I try running them.

The latest download will fix it for you guys...so that's why it's been working for some and not others...if you log back into the store you'll get a free download and this newest version will work you with CS3.

Awesome! Thanks, DJ. Now how bout some updated brilliant presets to work better with Bridge CS3? wink.gif
davidjay
smile.gif The problem with CS3, Lightroom and even the updated version of Bridge for CS is that they took away the 4 "auto" features that the original version of CS2 had. Although I own CS2, CS3, Lightroom, and Aperture I'm still using the original version of CS2 for color correcting because I like those 4 auto settings rather than the one global preset. I think Adobe is dumb for pulling it out.

I completely agree with you on this one, DJ. Though I rarely use the "auto" setting for the final setting, it was a good way to get in the right area and then tweak it slightly. I wish they'd bring back the individual autos...
Chris Humphreys

Thanks for posting that up DJ! Not sure what I did wrong, but when I ran the installer on the new version it didn't seem to actually install anything in scripts menu of CS3. Do I need to anything special or is it not located there anymore?
davidjay
Hmmm...have you restarted Photoshop since you've run the installer?
Chris Humphreys
Yep!
davidjay
hmmmm...I'd hitup forest through the support site so he knows there's an issue because you've already exceeded my brain capacity. smile.gif

Yeah I'm having issues too with ShowIT Borders and Effects... with the new versions it says the install was successful but nothing appears in the scripts menu or in the photoshop scripts folders... dang... support tickets submitted.

Ok I think I have it figured for us Mac users -

If you try to install the new versions of both ShowIT Borders and Effects, the installer doesn't actually see CS3 in your application folder. I found the it had installed both of the scripts to the base HD.

-So if you open up a new finder window click on your main internal HD
-You might see folders called "ShowIT Borders Installer" and "ShowIT Effects Installer"
-If you open these folders you will see the folder structure as if it installed into your Photoshop app properly.
-Now you need to copy the folders labeled "Showit Borders" and "Showit Effects 2.0" to

Main Hard Drive -> Applications -> Adobe Photoshop CS3 -> Presets -> Scripts

-Relaunch photoshop and hopefully you'll be good to go!

This may be the same for Windows users but I'm not positive. I think the installer is still looking for CS2 not finding it, and just dumping the files to the root of the hard drive.
