I am going to be doing some print advertising in the near future and I need some opinions. I supscribe to the KISS (keep it simple stupid) way to thinking and I want my add to be simple but distinct. Which photo sends my message the best?

Thanks for your input!
Lucky Red Hen
1.
Shannon Leith
the first image is definitely the most impacting. the flowers she's holding also match your logo.
Lucky Red Hen
And 2 Shannon's in a row can't be wrong wink.gif

I also think #1 is the most impactful. I think it could be even moreso if you would make the logo pic smaller or even remove it and just have your business name (in the same arrangement, with the same font and colors, but no background image). That way the eye will be drawn straight to your very nice image of the couple. I'd also edit the copy just a bit:

Why settle for ordinary
When you can have extraordinary?

or

Why settle for ordinary,
When you can have extraordinary?

And maybe put "extraordinary" in bold, or italics, or something. Editing the copy isn't really necessary, it's just me being nitpicky over proper punctuation. smile.gif

I think it's a great ad - I also like the KISS frame of mind and I know I respond to that type of ad much better than really crazy, over-the-top ads. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the input. I was thinking about ditching my Logo but I wanted to be consistant with my branding. Between my BLOG and my Website and my flyers and mailers I have been tryign to keep a consistant branding with this logo. I see what you mean about loosing the picture of the couple. Maybe if I edit it some more. I will play with it and post some more changes.

Thanks again!

doing your own ad design can be a challenge, there are a lot of things to consider. Now, if someone showed me your print ad and said "what do you think of this photographer just based on the ad" I would say: traditional and budget.

from a design standpoint I would say, lose the drop shadows and the flowers behind the logo. They're taking your design down. I would change your font, is that ariel? you will never find a graphic designer using that font.

hope that helps
Libbie
Right - what I meant when I said to remove the logo image was to take the roses out from behind it. Otherwise, I think the font and arrangement of your business name is fine. I just think if it gets too busy then it will distract from the product you are trying to sell. smile.gif

That is what I worked on . What do you think of these two? I also changed the font from Warnock Pro to Trebuchet.

Libbie
I like it! I think I actually prefer the second one now....
wrecklessgirl
like them both, but #1 struck me first, even tho the second is great too. can't you print 1/2 and 1/2? smile.gif

laughing.gif Maybe next year I will be able to afford the Silver package for the show and I will have a 1/4 page to work with and I can use both! Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am going to check out the other fonts that Stephen mentioned but I think I really love Number 1.

I need to get some large pictures printed for the booth. Any suggestions about posters or just 16x20's?
Lady Rose
Ok I think I have decided on #1 and I am thinking about carrying over this design onto my postcard handouts at my booth. Now I hear the comment about negative space to for the postcard I added a little something. It to cheesy? Let me know what you think.

I am also considering keeping the same theme in a 24x48 banner for my booth. Which of these do you perfer. I know I am picking your brains but I really could use your opinion.

For your print ad, maybe blow up a rose in the background - so it's huge...might be neat a sort of bleeding off the side.
Regarding the two options for your banner, I like the first one but I would make your website in a little smaller font.
LOVE the photo!
