Hi everyone. I currently have 175 images open in PS and I want to rezize the canvas size from 6x9 to a 8x10. Then I need to have the images flattened and then saved as jpgs in a folder. Is there anyway to batch this- or do I have to do each page one at a time?

Tanya,
Once you have created an action that will do what you stated,
you simply run the batch action on it by choosing the source files
to be the files you have open in photoshop.

Just curious, why do you have 175 files open at once?
Chris Austin Photography
Tawnya,

What he said. Just have one file open (assuming they're all in the same folder)... Also, are you resizing the picture to 8x10, or just resizing the canvas (which will leave white space all around your 6x9 image? Make sure white is chosen as your background color first before you do this.

Also, are all the images the same orientation, or are some vertical and some horizontal? I don't think Photoshop can batch resize the canvas and have it oriented correctly, but if you resized the actual image you could do that. You might have to do all the horiz images at once, and then all the vertical ones separately with a separate action.

I would use Lightroom and set the crop tool to 5X4, apply to one then sync the crop to all, you can adjust each image how you want if needed then export.

Thanks everyone! I am trying a new way of doing a proof books ( I went to the contact sheet thread here on this board) and I am just plain old PS dense. I have tried running the contact sheet- but cannot get it to be black- and I have tried creating an action (think I created it...but doesn't work right) This is the part of my job that I JUST HATE!

I had that many images open because I did the contact sheet II in PS and it left them all open. That is all. It did slow things down quite a bit!

I know if I could just get it to look how I want and understand it- then it will be smooth sailing form here (just like all the other PS stuff I have learned) but it is gettingit the first time that drives me nuts!

Thanks for al the responses- at this point, I just may give up and order my old school proofbook like I always do. sad.gif

Oh I did get the contact sheet to work- but the background is white and I want is black ( I am going to have to go in again and make sure that the option is not there)

6x9 and 8x10 are two different ratios. I would approach the action in the following manner.

1. Resize 'image size' to 8x12 (do not change canvas size)

2. Select crop tool, input 8 and 10 appropriately, proceed to make a crop selection and complete crop

3. Save file as desired file type

4. Close file "do not save changes"

5. Stop action

6. On the 'crop' line of the action toggle dialog to on

That will stop the action at the crop point and allow you to select the crop area. Then click the play button again and it will save and close the file.

Now so you don't have to open each file manually open adobe bridge. Select the image range, then select from the toolbar "tools > photoshop > batch" then in the play section tell it the name of your action and hit OK. This assumes photoshop CS3 but it would work basically the same way for any CS version.

From what I've read, you are looking for an 6x4 image on a 8x10 page?
Black background a must.

I'll link to an action...

You will need to run this through the image processor dialogue box instead of the batch one.

The action adds the canvas in black and is set up as to work on both landscape and portrait orientation of the source image.

If it isn't right, please can you provide a drawing or something of what you are looking for please biggrin.gif

Thanks again for the replies- I am not taking an actual image and wanting to change teh size- the ratio doesn't really matter- they are just contact sheets (6x9 page with 6 images on it) I just wanted to make all the contact sheets to be 10x8 so that I could drop them into a book.

So, with the proofbook thread here on this board, I found a great- inexpensive program to do exactly what I want.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

If this is what I think it is, I've been searching the boards trying to find something just like this except for 8x8 pages. I tried the link, but it won't work. Would you mind relinking it? I'd love to play around with it and see if I can fiddle it into what I need. Thanks!
