The OpenSourcePhoto mastermind Dane Sanders was recognized by PICtage awhile back for his ability to lead and develop communities like we have here. Today he was recognized again in their year-end newsletter.

Dane! We're blessed to have you and thanks for sharing your knowledge and yourself with us!
Cheers!

Thanks DJ! You are kind to highlight me but don't think for a second that our community didn't notice the big time name two UP from mine. I'm more grateful for that association than anything.

Now this is a highlight! In the same end of year newsletter, our main man DJ was featured once again with one of his many inspiring shots. Fantastic job this year David!! Not only were you successful, but you were instrumental in making other folks years (like mine) the best yet.
Let's all thank DJ for living out what he preaches ... measuring success in how others have benefitted from his contribution.
Thanks man. You're a good colleague and a great friend.

I second that Dane. I have been associated with this forum for less than two months, but you both have had a bigger influence on my photography than anyone in the last couple of years.
You amazing pictures combined with your genuine and giving nature has made this forum and obviously the pictage forum a success.
Thanks for sharing guys.

I third that. DJ your contributions to this forum, but even more....my business are numerous to say the least! Thank you...
Dane, you are inspiring! I love your work ethic and your attitude. You have taught me much.
You guys both rock....

I'd tell DJ how much I appreciate him, but 1) you all have left me no good words or phrases to use (besides "you make me want to be a better man" which is stolen from a semi-funny movie) and 2) my PAYMENT for saying nice things about DJ never arrived - apparently you all had no problems getting your checks...

Congrats to you both, and you all. It's rare to do work you enjoy, even rarer to be distinquished for doing so (especially in high-end professions like yours can be) - and most rare to have a whole community of people all experiencing the two together!
Did that just sound like a valedictorian's speech??
Ick.

Thank you, thank you. <bows>
I'm trying to pick out my outfit for the inaugural, and am realizing that my working at a camp in the mountains has hindered my ... fashion senses. So I need a spot of help from the professionals in the group: which color socks do I wear with gray slacks after labor day - that go best with my favorite red t-shirt??
See you at the ball...

I think pink socks with white shoes would go great with your hair!!

how about sandals?
Kurt
January 27 2005, 11:22 AM
Yeah, but you need to make sure the socks have toes. That way you won't have to scrunch the sock to get your sandals on.

ARRRRR. That's MY close-up!! Them apples are definitely gettin' made into a cobbler!! Thank you all for helping me pick socks - I just noticed (boo-hoo) that my favorite red t-shirt has a whole in the underarm (who knew!?). Should I discount it then - just for this reason? I do have another second-favorite shirt that's kinda light blue... will your sock color choices still work with this shirt??

No. What is that??? It sounds like some new, outrageous up-and-coming punk band.
Am I right??

Almost, but I think u should use it so that your little red shirt could still be used! Hey if you need help DJ's mom called and said she still sews his name on his underware. And would love to teach you to sew.

You both have been so kind with all your help for me. I have no doubt that you both earned all the kudos you get.
I’m so thrilled to be in such fine company.

Big hugs to you both!
