Well, today I got a few packages from Amvona -- a new backdrop, and two new brolly boxes! Of course, I had to play, and my kids were willing to help.

I just LOVE the new backdrop even though the color looked really weird before I lit it and took pics. The brolly boxes rule too!

that cow is sweet. Where did you get that? My kids would love that.

It's a Little Tikes cow, and I got it from GoodWill! Your kids would totally love it -- mine have been using theirs for two years now, and it's holding up really well.

Not sure if the daughter is laying down playing or if she just fell off the cow but it looks like the latter and it made me laugh my butt off.

Beautiful shots. Can you give me a rundown of the lighting equip/techniques you used. Sorry to bother but I'm new to studio work.

very nice backdrop! I just ordered one from them yesterday via ebay, I'm excited to get it!

LOL Thanks! She really did fall off the back of the cow onto the floor. For half a second my thought was "Oh No!" and then it was "Oh wait -- let me get a shot before I pick you up!"

For the backdrop, it's just one of those cheap Amvona ones from eBay, and for lighting I use two Alien Bee 400 strobes with brolly boxes (like soft boxes, but built like umbrellas).

I had one of the Bees to my right, and the other was near the backdrop on the far left hand side to separate the kids from the background. On my left side in front of the kids I had a great big "bookend" made of white foam core board that bounces the light back to fill in the shadows a little.

I should have taken a picture of my setup before I took it all down and put it away!

It's a grey crimpled one. I'm hoping it will be a versatile one since we don't want to go with the whole studio set-up yet.

Ooh, that'll be pretty! I'm watching a more neutral colored one on eBay myself -- I'd like to have either a brown mottled one or a grey one to sort of round out the collection a little bit.
