we recently had a bride cancel her july wedding. her retainer is not refundable, however, my biz partner had a GREAT idea that i thought i'd share incase you have someone cancel....

first off, i think it's incredibly smart and brave, to call off a wedding if things just aren't working. i'm not sure i could do it, expecially once everything is in place. not to mention having that sick feeling of any breakup, let alone the person who asked you to marry them saying 'i changed my mind'. and then having to call all your vendors and tell them it's off - it has to be awful.

we also got to thinking of how crappy the bride might feel about herself that the groom changed his mind. i know i would feel really horrible.

so... here's the idea. we are offering her a 'fashion shoot' of just her - really fabulous photographs of her, so she can see that she's gorgeous on her own! we hope it lifts her spirits and helps her to realize that she is beautiful with or without a boyfriend.

LOVE that idea!!! Kind of like the Bride that was on the news no too long ago- planned a $25K wedding and then broke up... so went on and had the dinner and dancing to benefit a charity! And she even had her dress on! How cool!

I love this idea!! I remember reading someone doing something similiar last year....I think it was Timco maybe? Whoever it was did it for a friend and they were just incredible photos!!

I, personally, offer a "Stalk the Cheating Bastard" session where I spend two hours following him around town photographing him with the girl he's been cheating on her with. thumbsup.gif

Very nice idea. We had a bride cancel her wedding 3 days before, but in the end, I think she did the right thing. (Just a little too late, maybe)

If the bride canceled the wedding, wouldn't the GROOM be the one who's not feeling so hot about himself?!! It's not always the guys breaking the girls hearts you know. Just sticking up for the fellas!! biggrin.gif

yes, i agree. but in this case, he changed his mind, and she has to do all the cancelling. i'm glad that they decided NOT to get married. (the getting unmarried is a real bust in the butt.) i don't know the details, but i know she's not too happy. besides, in either case she's the one who has to call all the vendors and get things taken care of. it's hard enough to get things in order for the wedding, but then to have to be reminded over and over as you cancel the event really stinks.

i do feel for you guys when the tables are turned - no one likes to be rejected.
