Full Version: Great Movie Review Site

I just had to drop a post on here about this really cool site that does in depth content reviews at movies. Who wants to take their family to the theater, and spend all that money and have a non family friendly movie.

Anyway this site capalert.com is run by a guy who reviews movies so that families and those who are concerned about the content can see very detailed reviews for the content. It's not a glomourious site, but it cover all the things like how much violence, and what kind, language, you name it. I don't know him personally, but the site is run off donations, and he does not review every single movie but most of the titles that a family might consider going to see he does.

If you have trouble determining weather you want to spend the time and money by reading the rating on the poster like my family then this sites for you. By the way I think he's been having a bit of trouble keeping things up to speed money wise lately so if this is a blessing consider helping out his cause.

No personal motive here, just thought I'd share it, because it took me ages to finally find movies reviews that were this good. smile.gif

Thank heavens - I wouldn't want to go to a movie not knowing how many incidences of flatulence there were (Charlotte's Web = 2). [Actually, that might make a good rating system. You could even apply it to current and former boyfriends/girlfriends.]

I believe Gavin, that John was being a smartass.

My husband is very interested in movie "reviews" to find out content, theme, family safe recommendations, etc. but me , not so much. I usually use common sense. I have seen movies that every critic in the world say sucks and Ive walked away with arms raised to the sky that is was the best flick Ive ever seen. In turn, Ive chanced it and taken the girls to a few PG-13 movies and of course the first thing out of thier mouths when we get home to Mr. censorship is the ONE cusword that gave it the "13" part rating. (So now Im a bad mother).

Anyway, its good to have a site like this, I love to see the consenses befor venturing out to blow 30.00.
Appreciate the info, I will refer to them, the girls and I go to the movies quite often and I long to every once in a while, see something that has a bit of depth, but isnt over the top or too much for thier tender little souls.

For guidelines, its very helpful, for taste however...thats all up to the moviegoer. smile.gif

I think the point is what you want a movie to be (for yourself, your kids, etc.): propaganda or experience. There are no bad experiences if you learn from them.

The reviewer has taken the concept of experience and reduced it to counting "farts." (He actually does that for the Charlotte's Web review.)

You missed th entire point. The reviewer gives of overall rating of what he thinks the movies s rated, then a 1-100 overall score, and also gives all the details for why he came up with a score so that people can make an objective decision.

I for one have no desire to be caught in a movie that me and my family fell is filth, because the mpaa is to lazy to use their heads, and tell us whats in a movie. For those who don't care about whether a movie had family safe content I suppose this site is of no use. But I can tell you that many people, especially those with families appreciate the fact that this place puts out so much effort to let them know whats in a movie so they can make an objective decision rather than waste money on something they never wanted to see.

Many people of the world care about the fact that Hollywood wants to desensitize us, and our family my making movies that either subtly, or clearly promte filth. And many of us think it;s disgusting. Everyone makes their own decision, but this site gives the information many people want.

By the way I do consider it a bad experience if I take my little brothers to a movie that's supposed to be for families, and have to be subjected to language, sexual deviancy, and on and on... There are bad experiences, and to say there is not is well... just silly
