Full Version: What's the deal with colors on Blogger?

I can't quite figure out what's going on here. For the longest time, I have noticed that my images, when uploaded to my blogger blog, change in hue/saturation from the original uploaded file. It's getting a bit frustrating. Has anyone else noticed this on their blogs?

Here's an example. Look at this post on my blog. Keep the first image up on the screen. Now compare it to this:

See the difference? They are both the exact same file. Here's another (refer to the 9th image down on the same post as above):

I'm stumped. Look at the difference in the curtains. Blogger has rendered them poorly and desaturates them all. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thumbsup.gif

Note: I do not use "Save for Web" in PS as that seems to change the color slightly as well. I save them as a 10 JPG file.

sorry DJ, they look the same to me sad.gif the only thing people have suggested in temrs of blogger pics is to save as sRGB, but your probably already doing that....

This has been covered many times before. DO NOT SAVE TO BLOGGER! Make sure you're saving your images in sRGB colorspace, not using save for web (use save as... JPEG... baseline standard.... quality 8-9) then host the images on your own web server and ref them in blogger. You can do this by using the "add photo" button but not using the upload box - use the other one, where you insert an entire link to the image (including http:// and the extension - for instance http://yoursite.com/blog/images/yourimagename.jpg). This will make blogger insert the image into your blog using an HTML link to YOUR web server. When yo upload it to them, it's getting compressed somehow.

Good luck.

I personally have an action I run on my blog post photos that messes up the levels so they will look good when I save for web here's what the settings I have in PS are:

New Adjustment Layer: Levels: 0 • .76 • 255

New Adjustment Layer: Saturation: +30

Looks crappy on your screen until you save for web then they look great. At least that is what has been working for me... let me know if it helps smile.gif

if you "save for web" it'll get you a preview of exactly what your photo will look like so you can tell if it worked or not

Sorry dude, they look the same to me.

Are you converting to sRGB before saving? It tends to be the most common problem with wonky web colours.

Funny... they look compeletly different to me! Very washed out looking. I don't have any advise though... Mine are fine on Blogger. I don't host the images on Blogger though.

That's the fix! I deleted the images from blogger and linked them over from my server and they look great now. What's frustrating is that images uploaded to blogger are not consistent. I have posts that are faithful to the original edits (uploaded to blogger) as well as posts where blogger messed with the color. All images were saved the same way in an action. Sheesh.

Ah well, need to create a new workflow for blogger images. thumbsup.gif

Glad that helped. Too bad blogger does funky things with color, but I like uploading the images to my own server anyway - it gives me more control over the whole process and I know they're going to display exactly as I want them.

Enjoy!

I host with blogger and haven't noticed any color changes. I did have a problem once, but it had to do with my profiles getting changed from sRGB to AdobeRGB in Photoshop.

For some reason the pictures aren't showing up in your post, Matthew.

Brilliant! Thanks for bringing this up and thanks to someone for finding a fix!

I was finding that peoples faces looked very purple if I had a desaturated image to start with! I am so glad that I know what to do now!

I love OSP!
