I have no clue what the official name is of the little icon in the address bar....like Google has a g in front of their web address.

What is it and how can I get one for my site?

Thanks!
MattA
Google favicon and you'll get there

For some reason, I could never get mine to work, so I eventually gave up. They made it appear to be so easy, but there were conflicting codes I was being given to enter into my HTML.

Any body have the REAL way to do it that they could post?

Here is the site I used to make mine. I know when I originally set up my site, I put in some code, but it's nowhere on any of my pages at this point and the favicon does show. I'm guessing that as long as it's correctly formatted and it's in your root directory, it shows?

I take it back; it is hard coded into my blog now, but it worked before I had this new template.

FAVICON:
This is the little icon you see in your browser window just to the left of the http:// in the address. It's very easy to make - and looks way more professional than not having one.

I made mine but my current website provider (photobiz) doesn't support them. Does anyone know if bigfolio supports them and if so, how to get them to work?

Blogger is also no longer allowing the use of favicons. Or my code stopped working for some reason...

I'm going to see if I can find a way to use them in blogger. If I figure it out, i'll let you know. I didn't know the word favicon until this thread, but now I really want one.

I'll post once I get mine up & let you know how i did it.

now I need to decide what I want my favicon to be...

cool it worked!

I am going to make a better one. I just wanted to see if it would work.

I followed these steps to make it
http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/...er/favicon.html

but instead of getting the pluging, i used this site to make it into a .ico file
http://www.iconj.com/generator.php

Then I followed the steps here to put it in blogger
http://www.blogger-book.com/2008/06/favico...-host-blog.html

now to decide what I want my favicon to be.
