I have solved the problem...

I got a program called ISHOWU (http://shinywhitebox.com/ $20) and recorded the playback of my flash movie to quicktime and then took it to imovie and put it on my ipod and made a cd with it... everything works great... smile.gif

Yea - I like ishowu it's a good little app! ...and you can also compress things for iPods with Quicktime Pro.

Thank you thank you thank you!

That makes my recent $150 ShowItWeb purchase SOO much more powerful an investment!

BTW: Until I get a web site going, anyone know an easy and cheap way to host a ShowItWeb video?

I'm also not sure how to package it into an EMAIL. I figured I'd address these problems after taking advantage of the holiday sale.

you can set up a blog at blogger.com for free.. and you can upload your stuff there. oh and it is easy to set up.

Awesome Tip!! I just downloaded the demo and ripped a showit show right off my own site. It took a couple minutes to figure out the settings and I'm sure it'll take a couple more to get it just right for either iPod or iDVD, but this is just what I was looking for! It still won't make true DVD quality shows since Showit is designed to output web quality, but for an ipod it's sweet.

Note: I'm not complaining at all about Showit, as I've said before it's the best web slideshow program I've found, it's designed specifically for web output and it works very well for that! Being able to put the show on an ipod, or low res DVD (and for only $20) is icing on the cake!

Jen,

There are many screen capture programs for Windows. Check out this info below. Many are free. I cannot recommend a particular one because I use iShowU on a Mac to create my tutorials.

Update: I made several 'grabs' from my showit slideshow and burned them to DVD with iDVD and played it back on my 21" CRT (closest thing I have to a TV) and it worked amazingly well. Well enough that I might actually offer to sell the Showit on DVD using this method.

IN case you're wondering what my 'favorite' setting were for DVD playback (so far at least, seems there is always tweaking to do):

DV NTSC
Audio Quality: High
Frame Rate: 29
Quality: Max
Scale: 100%
Compression: Apple Intermediate Codec
Capture Size: 640x480 (for a 'normal' TV or monitor, widescreen would be different)

Capture size can be a tough one depending on your Showit dimensions, mine was 500x500 so I was losing a bit of height and had borders on the sides, not a big deal, but something to be aware of. If you match your Showit show exactly then it will stretch to fit the screen when iDVD creates the DVD (if you know how to prevent this, please let me know!)

Thanks again for the tip!

I agree.

I encountered a problem, maybe you can help me. Whentrying to to the grab, after resizing the square, I pressed record and the square moved with the mouse. How do I make the square (for the capture) stay where over my showit?

Hi I've just downloaded the demo and started to play around. ~Re your question there is a tick box at the bottom right hand corner giving the option to follow the mouse. Deselect the tick and the frame will then stay where you set it.

best place for domain and hosting and 24/7 help and making sure youll always get an email reply within the hour - mediatemple! the best ive used do far and from my brothers work being with the british national health service, they think so too! its well priced, and they are more than helpful, globat.com is also a good one to try!

for ftp clients, you can use dreamweaver 8s built in ftp client, or download lots. i use mac so the only ones i can recommend are one button ftp and cyberduck, my preference lies with onebutton ftp just simply drag and drop your files into it and walla! most do that anyway! windows not sure!

btw if u do use mac, and for everyone else, check this freeware list out:

http://brilliantignorance.blogspot.com/200...ac-user_20.html

it gives all the good stuff that is free for your mac.

and showit effects, web works both with mac and windows, thats how i do it on the macbook pro. just contact dj and he'll give you the quick solid customer service and help you need for his products! who better to ask than him?

I don't have ShowIt web, so i'm not too familiar with what you guys are trying to do, but if all you want to do is convert .flv files to .m4p (ipod) files, there is a great little program for Mac called iSquint (www.isquint.org). You just drag and drop the .flv files into the app and it converts it for you. Oh and it's free thumbsup.gif

Wait a second, I was told I couldn't do this. I thought it had to be hosted first. Is there something I don't know? 51.gif

Has anyone tried isquint to convert show it? I am guessing it may not work since the output for ShowIt is not a simple flash file. But program is useful for other applications

Hallelujah!

Thanks for this tip - going to buy it right now!

Cool stuff, but what about those of us still using a PC? Any recommendations(besides buy a Mac)? laughing.gif
krista
Not very technical but ishowu was easy to use! One quick Q... I recorded the showit show, saved it in Quicktime... now do I just burn that to a CD/DVD? Or do I need to do something else to it to be able to see it on a TV?

BillCawley - thank you for your detailed info. That was a HUGE help!

By what I understand, those of us that are PC users are saved by Quicktime Pro for $30.00. If I am reading this right?

I have Quicktime Pro for Mac (also about $30) but how do I get it so I can watch it on a TV??

Hi Steven,

I have QuickTime Pro, how do I import my ShowitWed slideshow into it?

Anyone?

Do you resize your show to 640x480? or do you resize the video?

I'm making my shows at 675x450....so maybe I'll just crop the show - I'm not sure.

I ShowU is a great app, I started making screencasts with it http://makelightreal.com/category/video/
