Hi all. I just did a session with a friend of mine and her 5 week old baby. There was this super cool old mirror in their room and I tried to get off a few quick shots but the baby was quite fussy that day and I didn't get to get as many photos as I wanted. However, I can't decide if I really like this photo, or if it is too weird.. like she is floating. The room was quite cluttered, so this is the only angle I could get without the rest of the stuff around the room showing. Comments and critiques much appreciated! THANKS!

I like the idea of it, and I've done some myself, and I like the image, but i think I'd like it better if mom and baby maybe filled the frame more.

But hey, we have to work with what we've got right! thumbsup.gif

Cluttered rooms scream for a wide open aperature and very limited depth of field. You can make anything look good, except a fussy baby of course.

Yes, I would have to agree, except the clutter in this room and the pictures on the walls was a biit much. But you are right it was the fussy baby that was the hardest to "fix"... but hey, we get what we can get, right?

It's an interesting idea - and I like the mirror's edge...why not try burning the edges to bring the eye in to the mom and baby more?
Just a thought. smile.gif

Actually, my first impression is that I liked it. I am a big fan of lots of white space & interesting cropping. I think I like the color one better--the gold contrasted with the seafoam green is great. My 2 cents!

First impressions I don't really like it.
I found the shadows on the wall a little distracting and I don't think you had enough detail on the mother and child. Perhaps it would work better if the mirror looked out on an open room rather than a stark white wall. There just isn't a whole lot for your eye to look at.

I agree with Geneve, the color photo is my preference. Black and White is nice, but honestly, it reminds me of the movie, "The Ring". smile.gif

I prefer the color image, with some added sharpening and maybe just a little more punch in the color and contrast (that's just me). I like the use of negative space and the frame of the mirror providing a line that draws you to the mom and babe. Nice use of a tight situation ;-)
